So it's pronounced pree-thi, according to the article? "Th" like "thin"?
How is Tulip supposed to be pronounced? I would pronounce it just like the English word.

At one level - I get it, it must be annoying to have everyone pronounce your name differently from the original pronunciation. But I think expecting people to affect an accent that isn't their own to pronounce your name correctly is unrealistic.

I’ve only heard it before in reference to Priti Patel, who I gather pronounces it Pretty - I think that will be the main reference for a lot of people.

I've only heard it said as Pritty, and that's including from Indian-heritage women.
When one pronunciation becomes the mainstream one, you can't really expect people to think it's not the original one.

I've heard Priti as "PREE-dee" and Tulip as "tu-LEEP", rhyming with "asleep". However, I find the kids I teach often prefer their names being said in an English way.
I do find it jarring sometimes, depending on the name. Some kids would ask for their name to be spelt "Preeti" if they want it said like that.

Most people pronounce Priti as pretty. I know it’s not meant to be pronounced like that
