A brother or sister for Hadley

LexieLoos · 24/03/2026 16:06

Can you help me out with boy and girl names for our new baby, who has Hadley as a sibling
My partner likes very traditional (Charlotte, Emily), whereas I'd prefer something less so - Not totally out there, but not so classic I suppose. Also not keen on 'preppy' names, which searches tend to bring up when you search for names to go with Hadley
I like the sound of names ending with an 'a' sound (like Eva, but not this because it sounds like 'hardly ever' when they're together)
I quite like Welsh origin names, but they can't have overly difficult pronunciations for non-Welsh people
Additionally our surname is floral (think Lily), so I don't particularly want a flowery name
Any suggestions very welcome!

What are preppy names? I know what you mean by not traditional, but not so sure what is preppy?

Is Hadley a girl or a boy?

By Welsh-origin do you mean a name like Evan or Lloyd or something like Rhys or Huw, and how concerned are you about the Welsh pronunciation being used.
Do you have examples of names you like other than Eva?

There’s a brother and sister Hadley & Piper at my kids school. To be honest I don’t know which is which, but always think the names go well together

It does sound a bit like a Jermyn Street clothing shop!

Or a brand of lemonade that costs twice as much as the others.

To be honest op, I quite like Hadley with a traditional name.

So Hadley and James, or Hadley and Charlotte.

If that's what your DH likes and you can agree, I don't think you need to feel it has to come form the same "drawer" of names. They will be individuals, and I quite like the contrast.

I also quite like Hadley and Seren.
