It's far far far too early to be thinking about names, we think, maybe, well - really as we've no idea how far along i am I might as well think about names!

So - dh likes Kitty for a girl, and I do as well, but I'd like my kids to have long names so i can tell them off with them! But dh doesn't like Katherine.

Can anyone else think about "long" names for Kitty?

I won't even start on boy's names...

I think Miriam is pretty - wouldn't let Ms Stoppart put you off. It can be Mimi for short.

I also like Catalina if you are still on the hunt for a Kitty name - but poss to foreign sounding?

(and don't worry about scouting for names too early - I'm only around 6 weeks pg and have been obsessing about names ever since I found out. Last time I was the same - had spreadsheets and everything)

I love Constance but would shorten it to Nancy.
Also love Susannah atm, not really going to work as kitty though!

Had my nose in the baby name book again:

Keturah - second wife of Abraham, was popular with puritans and means 'Fragrance'.

Christina or Clementine could probably be shortened to Kitty too

Weegiemum · 18/06/2008 15:27

Why doesn't he like Katherine? It is a superior name!! Dignified and upmarket and totally suitable for her when she is Prime Minister/Chariman of the Bank etc .....

We called dd1 that and planned on all sorts of shortenings, but at age 8 she is still Katherine, though her friends now call her Kathy, which really suits her!

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttt?????????????????/

you're preggers??????????????????????

(can you not just call it Kitty?)

GeoffWode · 18/06/2008 15:35

How about Catkin? There was a Catkin at my school. She was a fabulous red-haired rebel.

I do so thoroughly agree with your naming choices hatrick.

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 17:52

Kaitlyn
Katya

haven't read the whole thing so sorry if someone already suggested them

theSuburbanDryad · 18/06/2008 17:53

Squonk - you can't blame me for not telling you, you're never on MSN!! There was a thread about it and everything though....

I'm coming round to the idea of having Kitty as a main name, especially if we shorten it to Catkin. That's just too adorable! Am astounded that anyone would have spreadsheets though.

Have got my scan on Friday

I'd have the long name starting with K as well if possible, to make life easier when she gets older and uses her shortened name everyday and the long one for anything official. It's much easier if they both start with the same letter- I speak from experience here.

kittywise · 18/06/2008 18:27

Well, what can I say?

theSuburbanDryad · 18/06/2008 18:40

BOM - no, we really weren't trying so it was a total shock! I was on the pill and everything!

I still like Katriona or Kaitlin, but as both are derivatives of Katherine I think we might as well just use Katherine! Dh disagrees...

Hmm urban it may be another boy

theSuburbanDryad · 18/06/2008 22:26

I have no idea what we'll call him if he's a boy!

I am never on MSN because dp keeps nicking the fecking computer in the evening - something to do with having to work for a living so we have enough money for me to go gallivanting around the country visiting MN mates - twat!

He is, however, in the process of getting the laptop fixed so I can MN and MSN whilst watching corrie while he's "working"

I heart Kitty as a name.

fryalot · 19/06/2008 09:31

oh... congratulations btw
