Todd, Troy or Jed?
If you don't like these sort of names, then please try not to be too insulting just wondering what you think when you hear these names. cheers

I love Todd love it

LaDiDaDi · 17/06/2008 19:48

Jed is the only one I like, but I do really like it .
Really dislike Troy.

southeastastra · 17/06/2008 19:49

isn't jed short for jeremy? todd is short for toddler

meemar · 17/06/2008 19:49

When I hear these names I think High School Jock (I hope that's not insulting )

If I had to pick one it would be Jed.

ah yes! i knew a woman called jed, was short for geraldine

bodiddly · 17/06/2008 19:51

Jed I think. Troy is a little American-sounding for my liking.

sorkycake · 17/06/2008 19:52

they're rather american, are they not?

Todd reminds me of the funny coloured character out of toddworld and is the better of the 3.

Actually you don't here todd very often do you?

sorkycake · 17/06/2008 19:53

hear I do apologise

Had to scan down to see if any of the MN West Wing fan club had turned out in favour of Jed (where it is short for Josiah, oddly enough).

These are not my favourite names. Troy definitely not. Todd, I quite like, and would be my favourite of the three. Jed is OK, but sounds like it's short for something, so personally I wouldn't give it as a name in its own right. But those are just my preferences. None of them is offensive (offensive would be something like Slartybartfast or Bakedbeanjuice ).

chisigirl · 17/06/2008 19:55

Jed... is there a character from a steinbeck novel or am I way off base? I like it. Is it short for something?

Troy .... American

Todd... very American

rachelgreen · 17/06/2008 19:55

yes, i do think i'm tending towards american names - am not even pg yet! DS's name is one syllable(sp?) so we want something similar to go with it, thought I'd test the water with what people think before I'm all full of hormones and cry when people don't like my names. girls names are so much easier

ah, i don't watch the west wing, so would now steer clear of jed incase people think i'm an addict.
i do also like ross... - nothing to do with friends! - oh yes, but then it'll be the american thing again won't it? maybe i should go all out for Brad???

Todds do have to be blonde though, and very white healthy teeth and an even tan....

yama · 17/06/2008 19:59

I like Troy. There was an actor in the 1960scalled Troy. I'm not keen on Todd and only like Jed if it's short for Josiah (as in The West Wing).

rachelgreen · 17/06/2008 20:02

Personally, I'm not a fan of any of them.

Todd - like someone has already mentioned, the name makes me think of a surfer type person (read: thick)

Troy - Ummm...errr...how to say this? Troy sounds like someone who would be prone to visiting the docks and meeting up with sailors.

Jed - The lesser of 3 evils although I keep reading it as Jeb (as in Beverly Hillbillies)

Just my opinion though...after incubating him for 9 months you can name him whatever you want!

AbbeyA · 17/06/2008 20:26

Too American-I just don't like them.

chisigirl · 17/06/2008 20:40

btw, when I said American, I didn't mean that in a good or bad way. it was just a comment on what it makes me think of.

sorkycake · 17/06/2008 20:40

blane is an american name

along with bailey, corey, brent, trey, darnell etc

savoycabbage · 17/06/2008 20:41

Jedd. It's great. Very manly.

notasheep · 17/06/2008 20:47
