Seems to be getting more trendy.

raindropsonroses · 17/06/2008 01:52

Is it popular? we have it on our list for dc

spareparts · 17/06/2008 08:11

It's on the rise but why does that matter?

I suspect that if Beatrice was really going to race up the popularity chart, it would have done so when the Duchess of York named her daughter that (what, 18 years ago?) and brought the name to public attention. It's a lovely name.

Lovely name.

I know one Beatrice. Don't think it's that popular.

LadyThompson · 17/06/2008 11:05

How do you find out if names are on the rise if they are not in the top 100?

Anyway, Beatrice is nice. Nice for a little girl and shortened, but elegant for a grown up

Ruwi · 17/06/2008 11:22

Beautiful name and not popular. My daughter is the only one in her school. Although I do know of one born locally last month.

VictorianSqualor · 17/06/2008 11:24

I like it, I think Bea or Trixie are really cute nns for it too.

Enid · 17/06/2008 11:29

We love it!

Dd3 says "I not bea I beetwice" quite often which is unbelievably cute

Enid · 17/06/2008 11:30

actually that shoudl say "beetwiss"

LunarSea · 17/06/2008 11:30

LadyT - Bounty do a baby names popularity thing where you can see if a name is more or less popular than last year. Beatrice is 338th most popular this year, compared to 349th last year.

belgo · 17/06/2008 11:31

My dd2 calls her friend who is a Beatrice: Beesha. They are both aged two.

artichokes · 17/06/2008 11:32

I like it. I know two under two and given that I had never met any before that I do wonder if it is suddenly becoming more popular. But I am sure it will never be a top ten name - it is like Tabitha or Matilda, they are both getting more popular but they are still unusual sounding.

beesha! that is sweet

cookiemonstress · 17/06/2008 22:01

DD2 is beatrice. She is generally called Bea or Trixie by me. Her sister used to call her "teatris" but now calls her something akin to "beast".

I love it but I'm biased..

constancereader · 17/06/2008 22:04

It is on my list too

dizzydixies · 17/06/2008 22:07

its a lovely name with a fantastic meaning, on our list for dc3 too

Nancy66 · 17/06/2008 23:33

I think it's a gorgeous name and I agree that if ever it was going to become super popular then it would have been around the time Princess Beatrice was born.

I can't see it becoming another Chloe or Jessica.

I like the Beatrix spelling as well.

LaDiDaDi · 17/06/2008 23:35

I like it, I know of one at primary school and one very little one.
