For the girls we would need a shortened version.
Hen, Henny?
What do you think?

Henrietta isn't my taste sorry
etta ??

thumbwitch · 17/06/2008 02:12

in these days of homogeneity of the sexes, you could always shorten it to Henry (or even Henri)

cornsilk · 17/06/2008 03:29

No to all versions

FairyMum · 17/06/2008 07:01

Really like Henrietta!

Pollyanna · 17/06/2008 07:05

I really like this - Hettie? Hattie maybe.

forevercleaning · 17/06/2008 07:08

lovely name

AbbeyA · 17/06/2008 07:09

I quite like it but it will be shortened and I don't like any of the possibilities. I think Harriet is prettier.

susue · 17/06/2008 07:10

My Neice was named Henrietta after a much loved Great great Aunt. She was so chuffed, and we shortened it to Hetti.

sophiewd · 17/06/2008 07:13

My sister is Henriettea, shortened to Henny or Hen Pen

NorthernLurker · 17/06/2008 07:35

I like Henrietta and I think you could shorten it to Hattie or Hettie - both of which are rather nice and then it's a 'proper' name for when she's running NATO or whatever.

RusselBrussel · 17/06/2008 08:03

I absolutely LOVE this name, and it was on our list for dd as my nan and my mum are called Henrietta.
For some reason (dh I think) we did not call her this, and whilst I love dd's name I bitterly regret not going with Henrietta.

LadyThompson · 17/06/2008 11:03

Henry (whichever spelling you like), Hettie or even Hattie - but Etta is also perfectly acceptable - look at the famous and fabulous blues singer Etta James.

CountessDracula · 17/06/2008 11:04

I don't like it sorry
reminds me of fat sloanes with pink faces and ruffly white collars and pearls in the 80s

RusselBrussel · 17/06/2008 12:39

at CD.
My nan and mum are neither, I have to say. We are dutch, no sloanness here

branflake81 · 17/06/2008 12:40

Isn't Hattie short for Harriet?

alittlebitshy · 17/06/2008 12:41

It's on our list too - we'd shorten to henny!

ducknineteen · 17/06/2008 13:59

can it be shortened to nettie (sp?) too?

rosealbie · 17/06/2008 14:01

my friends dd is called Heniretta and they shorten it to Etta. I think it's really pretty.

rosealbie · 17/06/2008 14:01

Don't worry, Heniretta isn't another version - meant Henrietta of course

Aero · 17/06/2008 14:05

Love it. I used to look after a little girl with this name and it grew on me enormously then as she was so endearing.

She was usually known as Henny or Henny Penny affectionately.

I also like Hettie, Netta, although not so keen on Etta (don't like the only one I know which is probably why).

TwoFirTreesToday · 17/06/2008 15:49

Great name, also like Henriette (like the Casanova character). Hettie is very cute too.
