We are trying to decide between Isadora or Beatrice?

If we go with the former, she would be known as Dora or Isa because we are less keen on ‘Issy’.

Would love to hear thoughts!

Also ..

I can think of a lot of strong feminine names, how about Eleanor?
Ellie, Nora, I even knew a Lenny once but I thought that was two masculine.

i prefer Beatrice

Cordelia is my favourite strong name after King Lear’s youngest and most honourable child. Beatrice reminds me of the princess, and also Dante and his obsession with his Beatrice. I think names like Rachel, Mary and Victoria are strong names.

Piknik · 08/02/2026 23:11

I like both your names OP. When I think 'strong' names, I think of:

Stella
Astrid
Saskia
Vivienne
Martha
Sasha
Juliet

To me, those girls mean business.

Marcipix · 08/02/2026 23:30

I think Isadora is quite a frilly name. Beatrice is okay but not particularly strong.

Kirsten is strong sounding, or Bridget or Karen.

RosesAndHellebores · 08/02/2026 23:37

Victoria
Petra
Stella
Diana (the huntress)

BeaTwix · 08/02/2026 23:45

When I read your title Immediately thought Beatrix.

Dislike Isadora

Other suggestions:
Kate (sounds stronger I think than Katherine and Katie is positively fluffy in comparison)
Victoria
Elizabeth
Alex
Helena
Davina

I like Isadora.

Beatrix is better than Beatrice especially as the latter is likely to be associated with the princess and her ghastly parents for some time.

Names I like that are strong yet feminine include

Alexandra
Miranda
Rosalind

Ilovesshopping · 08/02/2026 23:55

I prefer Beatrice. Not keen on Isadora- just think of Dora the explorer .

My choices would be
Alice
Alexandra
Jennifer
Evelyn
Penelope
Kate
Sarah
Marion
Harriet

Boudica!

SallyDraperGetInHere · 09/02/2026 00:02

I think there’s great strength in uncomplicated names like:
Jane
Joan
Anne
Maria
Helen
Diana
Laura

Or
Catherine
Christine
Andrea
Sara/Sarah
Constance

unflappybelivabubble · 09/02/2026 00:02

Freya literally means strong warrior

Gingefringe · 09/02/2026 06:50

Margo

Rockyhorrors · 16/02/2026 13:50

Neither of these are remotely “strong” girl names.

Sazzles169 · 24/02/2026 11:57

I love Isadora as Beatrice is super popular right now.

For something "stronger" I love Cassandra

NamingNoNames · 24/02/2026 18:55

@Sazzles169 , Beatrice is super popular right now. Beatrice has never been super popular.
