Cannot decide between Desiree and Jezabel

BTW this was today in the supermarket, a lady I know from dd's old nursery - quite boho and alternative.

She asked if I preferred Jezabel or Desiree and in which order.
I said they sounded a bit much together and could she not just call her expected dd
Jeziree
or Dezabel

She was dead chuffed and said she liked
Dezabel

Am praying that child is a boy I guess

Dear god no I hope she was joking!!

Both names are pretty awful, and the amalgamation is even worse!

jessiesmummy · 12/06/2008 13:29

hahahaha thats the funniest thing I've heard all day. Lets hope its a boy.

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/06/2008 13:30

Roffle.

If there's anything to nominitive determinism he will be a very loud child. Buy her earplugs as a birth present.

MrsBadger · 12/06/2008 13:32

this does happen occasionally

'We've chosen T'Kei-Jordan for a boy, or Alice for a girl'

and you hope against hope...

JulesJules · 12/06/2008 13:32

Yes, Dezabel is a brilliant name!!

WanderingTrolley · 12/06/2008 13:32

'he will be'

please add an 's' in there

BettySpaghetti · 12/06/2008 13:36

Poor kid -they get to be named after a hussy or a potato, what a choice!

TotalChaos · 12/06/2008 13:37

I think the amalgation is better than Jezabel, at least it doesn't have the same connotations!

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 13:42

yes, my sis decided on Troy for DC2 (thank God it was a girl)

WanderingTrolley · 12/06/2008 13:47

'Troy' reminds me - first class joke on HIGNFY t'other night.

Boris Johnson believes teaching classics will reduce knife crime.

Paul Merton: Et tu, Brute?

pagwatch · 12/06/2008 13:49

and what makes you think that Dezabel is off the table for a boy

Do people seriously think Jezebel is an option? No matter how 'boho and alternative' , thats plain cruel.

Nancy66 · 12/06/2008 14:15

Does she even know that jezebel means prostitute? probably not.

LunarSea · 12/06/2008 14:32

I actually met a Toddler called Jezabel last year - or at least it was pronounced Jezabel, could have been Jessie-Belle or somesuch I suppose. Maybe there's a trend there?

chipmonkey · 13/06/2008 00:55

I had a doll called Jezebel when I was little. My uncle suggested her name as a joke and I, at 2 thought it was a lovely name. Didn't find out the meaning till I was in my teens!

MrsThierryHenry · 13/06/2008 01:03

Hahahahahaha

Piffle · 13/06/2008 09:08

I had emerald green mascara aged 14 called jezabel...
