From your list and if I had to choose: Miles or Isaac
Miles - like but wouldn't use it.
Isaac - prefer the Is-ack pronunciation (I'm Welsh). Wouldn't use it but might if we were in Wales. Gets misspelt.

Jude - Very popular. At least it can't be shortened but it can be lengthened (Judy/Judas). I don't like it but it's not awful.

Elijah, Elias - ok but long and whiny-sounding. I don't like Eli at all.
(Elias pronounced El-ee-as is ok but prefer Elis - both Welsh)
Chester - lovely city to visit , dreadful as a name. Will be Ches.
Luca - faddy. Disney name.
Theodore - Theo has been done to death. I don't like Theodore at all.

Elias, Jude or Theodore

timoteigirl · 12/12/2025 17:38

Elias

BaronessBomburst · 12/12/2025 18:29

Jude! A lovely name and not that common.

MazeyP · 12/12/2025 21:37

They give "parents are IT consultants" vibes

paddleboardingmum · 12/12/2025 23:00

Miles or Theodore. Dislike Chester.

Alexandrine · 12/12/2025 23:37

They are mostly quite trendy, so none are exactly my cup of tea (I like a more timeless classic) - but still, the only one I really dislike is Chester as imo it has a more insta/reality celeb vibe than your other choices. Though I’m personally less keen on the sound of Miles or Jude as well.

I like Isaac best as it feels the least trendy to me - it’s been fairly popular for about 30 years now, whereas some of your other choices have shot up so much in the last couple of decades that they risk feeling like the boys names of the 2010’s/2020’s imo. 2nd place would probably go to Elias.

Miles

Leopardheart01 · 13/12/2025 01:28

Elijah is gorgeous!

mathanxiety · 13/12/2025 04:53

Isaac.

Please not Chester.

Trendy? You do relies that quite a few of these are biblical and have been
around for thousands of years?

OP whatever you choose your DS will grow into it and become his name. Congratulations btw!

snugasabug75 · 13/12/2025 08:07

Elijah is lovely

ChristmasinBrighton · 13/12/2025 08:16

Miles

BoleynMemories13 · 13/12/2025 10:57

They're all quite 'of the moment' names.

I like Isaac the best as I feel it's more timeless than trendy. I do really like Jude, but it has become very trendy in the last 5 years or so.

Luca is ok (but again, very trendy). I do prefer Lucas though. Theo is nice (but also very trendy), but personally I find the longer Theodore a bit wet.

The other 4 really aren't for me, but Elijah being my least favourite (so many young children struggle to pronounce this, even poor children who are called it). Most of their friends will call them Eliza until they've all mastered the tricky end sound. There are certainly sounds most children don't master until at least 5, and that's one of them.

Jude! A lovely name and not that common.

I'm guessing you don't know many young children? It has soared in popularity in recent years.

Did I say they were newly coined names? 🤣 Of course they aren’t! But if you look at the statistics many of those names have gone from less than a couple of hundred boys being given those names 30 years ago to more than a couple of thousand now. Rapidly increasing popularity is the very definition of trendy 🙄 But some people like trendy names - its just personal taste.

Emanwenym · 13/12/2025 14:37

What @Alexandrine said. Isaac was unusual when I was young, and names like Elias and Elijah would have been considered 'out there'.

@BaronessBomburst , Jude Bellingham probably gave it a boost.

HairyToity · 13/12/2025 14:55

My faves are Isaac and Miles.

I know two lovely Luca's, one of them has an Italian dad and the other an Italian grandfather. I feel it works better if mixed heritage.

youalright · 13/12/2025 15:01

Love them all except Chester. Luca is my favourite

purplehearts21 · 13/12/2025 17:03

my top 3

1 Elias
2 Isaac
3 Elijah

Didyousaysomethingdarling · 13/12/2025 17:13

Reda.
I work with a really lovely chap called Reda, he’s often called Redus or could also be Red for short.
