We don’t know what we are having, we are set on the boys name but we are struggling on girls name so send us your favourite.

Second name is 3 syllables which is why we would prefer a single syllable first name.

Rose
Grace
Eve
May

Often used as middle names (apart from Eve) but I like them all.

Could you go with a longer name that has a shorter "goes by" name e.g. Florence / Flo, Beatrice / Bea etc
I think something longer might sound better, one syllable could be quite abrupt and you don't often say a full name out loud.

No one has suggested Dot. But names can often be shortened if you do really like a longer one. My cousin is named Joscelin but everyone calls him Joss, his sister is Elizabeth, her parents chose Bess but when she's older, she could chose Liz or Beth or Bet.

Dawn
Grace. So timeless and elegant. No quieries re spelling. Love Gracie when they are a baby.

Alexandrine · 05/12/2025 19:15

Love a one syllable name - the vast majority of younger kids I meet seem to have 2 syllable ones (usually ending in “ee”, “ah” or “oh” as well) so the one syllable ones really stand out in a good way imo.

Personally I like Rose, Eve or May best (the timeless classics, at least as first names). But it might also be refreshing to meet a little Claire or Jane these days too. Or of the more fashionable “nickname style” names, I really like Tess, Gwen and Nell.
