What’s your honest opinion? This is my top contender for DS1 due in 2026 but having worries over popularity recently?
how many do you know?

It’s pretty popular around here, 3 in dc’s class! And I know a couple others too. I do like it though.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 30/11/2025 11:27

It's really ugly

OSTMusTisNT · 30/11/2025 11:30

Prefer Francis with NN Frank. Don't like Frankie.

CluelessAboutBiology · 30/11/2025 11:52

I know a Frances who is known as Frankie. The only Frank I know is a Labrador.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 08/12/2025 19:37

It is nice but v popular

along with Francis and Franklin (both often nn Frank) and Francesca/Frances (often nn Frankie) for girls

lottiegarbanzo · 08/12/2025 20:00

Franklin and Francis are nice in different ways. I wouldn’t go for Frank by itself.

SandInMyBootsAgain · 08/12/2025 20:03

I love the name Frank. I know one, mid-30s he’s always been very cool. Cute for a baby and a name that can be grown into as an adult.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/12/2025 20:04

No girl, sorry x

snugasabug75 · 08/12/2025 20:06

its terrible. The only Frank I know went by a nick name as they got older as they hated it

SushiForBreakfast · 08/12/2025 21:24

I like it. I think it suits both the boy and the man!

And the diminutive Frankie is sweet for a little boy..(I disagree with some previous posters. I don’t think it sounds like a girl’s name at all.)

Always seems like the sort of name people call a baby for a joke, like calling the dog Dave. So it's a no from me.

I think that was partly the thinking of comedian Christopher Collins, when he wanted a more distinctive, less subtle name, so he adopted the name of one of the old men he knew from his local pub - granted the surname was also 'earthy' and semi-comedic as well.

I think it's funny that Frank Skinner started out all of those years ago under an old man's name; now he's an old man himself!

ChubbyFecker · 08/12/2025 23:14

Not keen sorry. It sounds so blunt and harsh to me

Mwnci123 · 08/12/2025 23:18

I like it. Do it.

LastToBePicked · 08/12/2025 23:33

I have a Francis also known as Frankie or Frank. I like that all three have quite a different feel to them.

I don’t like my name and it has no common diminutives so having options was important to me.

Copperoliverbear · 09/12/2025 00:09

Frankie.

User28425 · 09/12/2025 00:14

I love it. I know 1 Frances and 2 Franklins known as Frank, all under 10, but I don't think any are popular statistically. Check Dark Greener names.

user1492757084 · 09/12/2025 10:21

No, not my taste.
F names that I don't mind ..
Flynn
Fletcher
Finbar
Felix

PumpkinSpicePie · 11/12/2025 11:36

I like it. Would it be short for Francis?

Catpiece · 11/12/2025 11:37

My six month old grandson is Frank. He’s a great Frank

That’s so lovely!

PumpkinSpicePie · 11/12/2025 11:52

I like it in the same way I like other names of people born around 1900. Albert, Fred, Joseph, George, Jack etc

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 12/12/2025 08:14

Honestly I really dislike it.
I knew a rather scruffy, obnoxious Frank whose wife had a speak impediment. She called him Fwank.
Awful.

Screamingabdabz · 12/12/2025 08:21

It’s not a real name though. It’s a derivative of Francis or Frances. Like people call their kids Maddie when it should be Madeleine. I’m not a fan of nicknamey names. Use the nickname as a family, fine, but at least give the kid a proper name to begin with.

BusterGonad · 12/12/2025 08:37

I'm sorry but there is absolutely nothing nice about it.
