Enya Bee

Looking for people's thoughts. We really like Enya as a first name and I want to use "Bee" as a middle name in honour of my Auntie who passed a couple of years ago. My Husband doesn't think the names sound right together. I think they do but also not sure if I am being blinded by liking Enya so much and really wanting Bee as the middle name. Help!!

The flow is jarring - enyubee. But you’re not going to say both names, so go for it.

Moreteaandchocolate · 05/11/2025 08:59

Enya Bea or Enya Beatrice are nicer imo, but middle names are rarely used so go for what is most meaningful to you.

ALC1 · 05/11/2025 09:04

Thanks for all of your input everyone. Really appreciate it. We did discuss using Bea rather than Bee, but my only worry was people mispronouncing Bea and saying it as it actually looks rather than the proper pronunciation "Bee".

I wouldn't use Beatrice as that doesn't have any meaning to my Auntie so if I was to use that, I may aswell just go with a different middle name all together.

Thanks again everyone :)

@ALC1 , use it. It's nice and it's sweet that it is honouring someone.

Enya is an anglicisation of an Irish name meaning Bird . Do birds & bees?

Edited

The name spelt Enya or Eithne doesn't mean bird x

I love love love it

I don't think Bee is the issue, it's the spelling. You'd be better off using the name Bea, rather than Bee as it's an insect. Bea, at least is a name, even though it's usually a nickname for Beatrice. It can be used on its own though.

JillyGiraffe · 05/11/2025 14:11

I love middle names with meaning so think Bee is wonderful. Not so keen on Enya. Have you thought about first name Beatrice?

HugoYorway · 05/11/2025 14:25

Bee Wilson hasn't suffered from having an insect as a first name.

Isn’t her first name Beatrice?

Im not keen on first name Beatrice. Old fashioned names aren't my style

Not keen on Enya at all but love Bee as a middle name, don’t think it matters that it sounds like an initial.

Tbh, given the reason the name means so much to you, I’d be tempted to use Bee as the first name but then I love bees! Would probably chicken out though.

I would have it as a first name but my Husband isn't keen on the idea 😂

I would spell it Eithne, but Bee is a lovely tribute to your aunt and doesn't need to flow. They will rarely be said together.

Celestialmoods · 05/11/2025 17:43

Both names are lovely, but your husband is right that they don’t flow together without sounding wonky.

I like the suggestion of putting another name in the middle. Maybe one of yours?

My Husband doesn't have a middle name and mine is "Leanne" so dont feel its the vibe we are going for 😂 im finding picking names we both like really tricky, so dont like the sound of having to pick a second middle name too. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Well we have a little girl already with an Irish name spelt a controversial way already "Neave" so feel if we were to spell Enya the Irish way, it may be a little odd 😂 you are right about them rarely being said together, my little girl is only known by first and last names at most places!

I’m not keen on both names together sorry! Enya is nice and Bea (spelled this way not Bee) is nice as a nickname. I actually don’t think Bee works as a middle name.
Enya Brenda works though, why not do that?

Because not one person in our family including herself called her Brenda, it was B. Thanks for the suggestion though x
