I'm a teacher, and am currently rather bored of hearing: Theo, Leo, Teddy, Alfie, Arlo, Felix, Eric/ Erik/ Eryk, Jude and Luca. Just so many of them!

There are fewer of these now (at least where I am), so they sound refreshing: Freddie, Rory, James, Jamie, Elliot, Max.

I also know little ones called Trevor and Kevin. I guess these are probably grandad names now, so starting to reappear.

CosyStork · 03/10/2025 20:08

New babies born - multiple Bodhi, Freddie, George & Jude - I would say Koa appears to be getting more popular also.

My daughter is school age and multiple boys are called Dylan, Max, Parker, Arthur & Ethan.

toadstool32 · 03/10/2025 20:10

Im a primary teacher with nursery aged son. Lots of Max, Joshua, Oliver, Theo, Albie

Hoolaboolaaah · 03/10/2025 20:25

I’ve got three children aged 4 and under.

I feel like 80% of boys we meet are called Freddie. Other popular names are Arthur, Albie, Frank, Max and Theo.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/10/2025 20:32

We have a little Karl and a little Stephen at school. As a 90s girl, I love it!

Firsttimebabymummy · 03/10/2025 20:51

Finley and Finn.. one in each class.
Teddy, Theo, Albie

Luddite26 · 03/10/2025 20:58

In the baby room there is a Michael, James and Rex that I have heard. In the under 3s there's Roman, Freddie, Hudson and Jonah.

Kwamitiki · 03/10/2025 21:07

DD's school year (1) has 4 Georges, 3 Freddie/Fredericks, two kids called Harry, 2 Olivers, 2 Rory, 2 Alex. There are also Arthurs, Stanleys, Alberts, Jameses and Elliots.

Noah, Jude, James, Teddy/Edward, Theo, Wilf and Leo seem popular round here too, and the tail end of the Landon/Kendon/Mason type of names as well. I also know a baby Scott.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 03/10/2025 21:08

George. I know it’s a classic but I’m so sick of it lately, it’s like Harry was a few years ago, so overused.
Other names there seem to be too many of lately, Arlo, Albie, Arthur, Albert, Jude, Teddy, Rafferty, Roman, Kai, Kayden etc.

It’s time to bring back some old classics like Andrew, Stephen, Kevin, Ross, Timothy, Peter, Jonathan, Michael, Graham, Anthony, David, Eric, Jeremy etc.

Not a teacher but have been to a lot of different nurseries and toddler groups and tend to notice/remember the name lists. Imo if you want your sons name to stand out more amongst his peers then avoid the shortish 2 syllable names - particularly those ending in “oh”, “ee” or “ah/ur” sounds (Theo, Leo, Arlo, Harry, Charlie, Freddie, Alfie, Albie, Noah, Arthur… etc etc). Those type of names account for about 90% of the younger boys now at most toddler groups/nurseries I’ve been to.

The timeless names seem to stand out much more than you might expect imo (even though they are still statistically Top 100) - Alexander, William, James, Michael, David, Daniel, Joseph, Benjamin, Samuel, Edward, Thomas etc

Or if you really want to stand out, then imo you could consider the classic names that haven’t made a big comeback yet - John, Christopher, Robert, Matthew, Nathaniel, Mark, Peter, Luke, Gregory, Steven, Phillip, Jonathan, Simon, Andrew, Anthony etc

Teddy, Theo, Albie

Interesting, I’ve a 23 year old Finlay and don’t know any boys with the same name

MedusasHead · 03/10/2025 22:25

Op, I’m not sure I understand the point of the thread. Are you after a popular name, or looking to avoid?

timeforfairylights · 03/10/2025 22:20

Interesting, I’ve a 23 year old Finlay and don’t know any boys with the same name

Finn/Finlay is the most common duplicate name at my DS’s school closely followed by Theo.

Marcipix · 03/10/2025 22:53

Theo, Leo, Oliver, Arnie.

Lemonadepie · 03/10/2025 23:00

Overused names here include Theo, Freddie, Alfie, Leo, Noah, Tom, Alex, Harry, George

If you’re looking for an underused classic how about
Christoher
Quentin
Conrad

Two of my boys are on the timeless classics you list! Biased I may be, but they are brilliant names! Grin
