I think it's quite a common name, easy to say and all know how to write it. Would go well especially if you have a long surname.

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/08/2025 11:50

I love this name, if you don’t mind it’s popularity

Emanwenym · 31/08/2025 12:06

I really like it. Babies called Leo in England & Wales since 1996

The only downside is that Theo and Theodore are so popular, and I don't like those names.

Xavier78 · 31/08/2025 12:33

My nephew has this name and it is gorgeous, it really suits him.

However, SIL said thay wherever they go he is often 1 of several Leos. In his class at school there are 3! Very unlucky. He's in year 3 I think.

Bluelilacbella · 31/08/2025 15:06

It’s very faddy/trendy and may well start to sound dated.

I prefer more timeless names

ExitViaGiftShop · 31/08/2025 16:04

Love it

Emanwenym · 31/08/2025 17:14

@Bluelilacbella , i knew a couple of adult Leos long before the current trend for it, but I think Theo being so popular, that Theo will become dated, dragging Leo with it. They'll be OK for the next decade or so.

hellonuranus · 31/08/2025 19:49

Ten a penny

Sunnydayze43 · 31/08/2025 19:58

I really like the name Leo but unfortunately a lot of new parents have liked that name and continue to do so and it's going to be very popular for a while.
But if you like it you should use it, your DS won't be the first child to be in a class with a couple or more other kids with the same name.

Bluelilacbella · 31/08/2025 21:43

Yes, the Theo/Leo trend has to go out of fashion soon imo

user2848502016 · 31/08/2025 21:47

I really like it

Tigercat14 · 31/08/2025 21:47

My 12 year old son is called Leo. Still absolutely love the name and it suits him.

Meredusoleil · 31/08/2025 21:48

I like it 👌

caityvh · 12/09/2025 10:58

My son is called Leo and it is more popular than I anticipated at the time, there are 3 in his year of 50 students. It does suit him so much though and I love love love it as a name. It was going to be that, Rory or Zack. He has two middle names he could always change it up with in future.

Trej85 · 12/09/2025 16:38

Love it but there is usually at least one in a baby class or soft play. More Theos and Teds though!

Plastictreees · 12/09/2025 18:41

It’s really popular and will likely date because of that. It’s one of the reasons I didn’t choose it.

Bluelilacbella · 12/09/2025 21:55

Theo and Leo are so overused these days… they will date badly imo

zebrastripesarefun · 12/09/2025 21:59

A favourite name of mine. Lovely and traditional too. Wish I had the chance to use it. It is popular but that’s fir a reason

JaninaDuszejko · 12/09/2025 22:04

I'm so old my main thought when I hear Leo is 'Like Tony Blair's youngest child'. Why is it popular now (Leo Blair is 24 so I'd have thought any popularity associated with him has disappeared)?

Havetoagree · 12/09/2025 22:10

Pope Leo

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 12/09/2025 22:14

I think it’s a good name.

I don’t know any young Leo’s, I know a few in their 20s.

WoahThreeAces · 12/09/2025 22:41

Absolutely love the name Leo! People saying it's popular but I don't know any - and I work with under 5s!

Emanwenym · 13/09/2025 09:08

@JaninaDuszejko It wasn't particularly popular at the time. He was named after his grandfather.Baby name explorer
The 'Lee' sound has been popular for decades. Lee then Liam then Leo.
