Yes

OldBeyondMyYears · 09/08/2025 16:07

Yes.

VeryStressedMum · 09/08/2025 16:09

No I don’t think it is. It’s a nice name. And if its a middle name it won’t be used very often at all most people don’t talk about middle names.

HugoYorway · 09/08/2025 16:22

Amari makes me think of Calamari

Scrabbelator · 09/08/2025 16:25

Lovely name. Amarie Iris avoids the double i

BoleynMemories13 · 09/08/2025 16:31

It's vowel heavy. It doesn't go because, despite the i's at the end of Amari and the start of Iris representing different sounds, they run into each other when said aloud. This happens with most name combinations ending and starting in a vowel, whatever vowels they are.

Day to day, I'm sure she'll just be Amari so it's not a major issue. It would put me off though as, personally, I like the full name to flow. It's more important her first name flows with her surname though, so as long as they go together that's the main thing.

The only Amari I know of is a boy though.

I think a lot would assume Amarie is pronounced Ah-marie. Autocorrect automatically changed Amarie to Marie.

I know a (male) Amari and he is lovingly known as ‘Amari Calamari’!

I like the name but it’s very much a boys name to me, I don’t like it on a girl at all. Iris is beautiful though.

timoteigirl · 09/08/2025 16:45

It's fine, flows well. How often would you use the full name? Hence vowel heavy isn't an issue.

Alexandrine · 09/08/2025 17:02

It’s fine, few people will even know what her middle name is. Plus Amari ends in an “ee” sound and Iris starts with an “eye” sound so although the letters are the same, the sounds are very different.

Moreteaandchocolate · 09/08/2025 17:14

I think it flows well enough for a first / middle name combo - they won’t be said aloud much together so it’s fine.

I agree with this. I think Amarie (Ama-ree) is much nice than Amari which sounds like calamari.

ginasevern · 09/08/2025 17:19

I'd lose the Amari and just stick with Iris personally.

BigWillyHazyHarold · 09/08/2025 17:20

Yes that's too much for me.

mathanxiety · 09/08/2025 17:32

I don't think it's too many Is. The I in Amari is a long E sound.

BondAway25 · 09/08/2025 17:40

Yes if you plan to use them both as her first name, fine if Iris will just be her middle name.

user1492757084 · 11/08/2025 10:13

Yes.

Iris Marie and Iris Amari are much easier to say and hear.
Do you like Arrietta?

stichguru · 11/08/2025 10:22

Are we talking double first name where both names will be used most of the time, or first name to be used everyday and a much less used middle name? I don't think it roles off the tongue nicely at all. However, they are both really pretty names in their own right, so if actually she will be a child who will most be known as Amari and only very occasionally will she be "Amari Iris" it will be fine.
