I need a name for a teddy bear...

My mum has just bought DS a beautiful teddy bear, one of these and it needs a name.

I think it's a boy (are teddy bears always boys?) and that it should have a french name because it is a french bear.

This is a chance for all those who like naming their children something sensible but secretly yearn for something a bit more unusual!

So far I thought of Alphonse.

Do your worst best!

PS am aware this isn't teddy bear names topic, but bear with me. boom boom.

Jacques
Nicolas (silent s)

I'm edging in favour of Monsieur Henri

will also see what DH likes.

I like this totally frivolous naming thing. Not quite as much pressure as babies. or cats.

We have a bear called Thierry. After the footballer.

RustyBear · 27/05/2008 17:17

I know it's not French, but Rusty is a very good name for a bear....

Monsieur Robert? Prononced Rob-bear

GooseyLoosey · 27/05/2008 17:17

How about "Arthur"? It is believed that this name derives from the Greek word for bear "arktos" and an old celtic word for bear "arto".

GreenElizabeth · 27/05/2008 17:30

Yes ARnaud is Arno.

Amandella · 27/05/2008 17:36

You could try using this

I am Paddington Angry-Bear

Hmmm... I really should find another hobby other than looking up names on these things

Mavornia · 27/05/2008 18:21

Now, I know you wanted a French name but I just looked deeply into that bear's eyes and something told me its name was Monty.

Go on, no one has let me name their baby - let me name the bear, pleeeeaaaaaaase!

SniffyHock · 27/05/2008 18:24

Wow LaVida - that makes me ....Sweetie Fine-Young-Chief

fantastic - I'm going to insist on being called that now!

BroccoliSpears · 27/05/2008 18:58

I had a boyfriend called Arnaud.

silverfrog · 27/05/2008 19:01

Don't know if it's already been said, but if you need a French name, then Al it is. Al Bear...

BroccoliSpears · 27/05/2008 19:24

Excellent Silverfrog!

silverfrog · 27/05/2008 19:26

dd1 has an Al Bear that we got for her before she was born (she seems to think his name is Owl, but I'm sure she'll get it one day!)

Mavornia · 27/05/2008 21:55

Since my Monty suggestion is being ignored I'm going to suggest:

Orson ;)
Bentley

2point4kids · 27/05/2008 22:00
