So I posted about whether you think Mia Imogen goes as a given first and second name and to be honest.. it got slated 🙈🤣 which I shouldn’t care about but, I do. In fact each poll I’ve put up about middle name options for this baby l, no one seems to like 😭
So I’m asking as two individual first name options…
Mia or Imogen?

Imogen 😊

Firsttimebabymummy · 13/07/2025 22:02

Imogen.
Lovely name. I know one that goes my Immy which I love.

Falingoth · 13/07/2025 22:07

Imogen. I have an Imogen. Beautiful name.

LucasBuck · 13/07/2025 22:32

I can’t see why anyone would slate popular Mia or Imogen, so it might just be that posters don’t really care about middle names as they rarely get used (I often kind of wonder why people post about middle names on here for that reason - I understand it’s a name board but most people won’t be aware of someone’s middle name so it doesn’t really matter what other people think of it 🤷‍♀️. Are there no friends/family/Godparents names you would like to use to honour them for the middle name? - those are the only people who might care/know about the name choice imo).

Personally for a first name I have a strong preference for Imogen of the two, as it has pretty, Shakespearean elegance to me. Mia is very cute but it’s much more faddy - until 30/40 years ago it was really only heard of as a diminutive of Maria (for example famous actress Mia Farrow is a Maria).

Imogen for me.

You really didn't get slated on your previous thread, by the way; people were just giving you honest opinions, they weren't trying to upset you.

Ignore other people's opinions and go with what you like for your baby, don't let randoms on here get to you.

Moveoverdarlin · 13/07/2025 22:50

Imogen by miles.

I think comments such as it being ‘clumsy’ etc aren’t really honest feedback just outright rude 🤣 I know it’s a free place for opinion but Jesus! It’s for my little girl, not like they’re really rogue names I’m putting out there

Mia and Imogen are both lovely names.

Rowen32 · 13/07/2025 23:22

Just call your baby what you want, don't ask the world, just go with your own heart

Azandme · 13/07/2025 23:26

I didn't comment on your last post, but I admit I struggle to say two names where the first one ends with a vowel and the next one starts with one - be that Mia Imogen, Lisa Aria, Leo Aaron or any other two of that ilk.

Both names ARE lovely though, and when I read the post my only thought was "great names, but other way round would flow better".

I'd have both, but go with Imogen Mia.

JillyGiraffe · 13/07/2025 23:55

Mia Imogen is absolutely fine! I personally prefer Imogen as a first name as I can’t unsee that MIA stands for missing in action. But there’s plenty of Mia’s out there!

CorvusPurpureus · 14/07/2025 00:06

I think the 'clumsy' comments were because they kind of roll into each other, if you used both.

Imogen is nice. I'd go with that & a different middle name.

Tbh I'd go with something a bit crunchy & consonant-y. Mia's a tiny bit bland as a middle name.

Imogen Victoria/Elizabeth/Claudia/Veronica?

abracadabra1980 · 14/07/2025 00:12

Imogen. Immy for short. Lovely.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 14/07/2025 00:15

Amyjade2022 · 14/07/2025 06:48

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the lovely comments. Sorry I know the other post wasn’t harsh and people were just giving honest feedback I guess I’ll blame sensitive pregnancy hormones. Just want to get it right 😆
I personally didn’t think Mia Imogen didn’t flow and was surprised to hear majority saying Imogen Mia flows better but I do agree that way round without the two consinents is better.
My Husband prefers Mia as a name over all so looks like we will be going with that as a first name I was just trying to find a way to still incorporate Imogen as it’s such a beautiful name, he said I can choose but I wouldn’t want a first name we’re not both really happy with.
He said he loves Immy if we call her that but I sound have to use Imogen as full I don’t like the idea of using just Immy even though it’s a cute nn.
Third time proving hard we have one of each already and we just agreed and knew their names straight away

I prefer Mia as a name. The flow with Imogen isn't great, as Mia ends in a vowel and Imogen starts with one so the blend together a bit. You also have a repeated m sound. However, middle names are so rarely used i don't think it matters as much as some claim.

Other options:-

Mia Louise
Mia Grace
Mia Florence
Mia Charlotte
Mia Victoria
Mia Jane
Mia Jade
Mia Rose
Mia Faith
Mia Faye
Mia Catherine
Mia Kate
Mia Willow
Mia Nicole
Mia Jasmine

WildCherryBlossom · 14/07/2025 07:33

Why not add another middle name - eg Mia Rose Imogen to help with the flow.

They are both beautiful names.

okydokethen · 14/07/2025 07:35

Mia is so pretty

user1492757084 · 14/07/2025 08:04

Mia

IggyAce · 14/07/2025 08:08

My dd is Imogen and now goes by the nn Midge she was Immy as a toddler.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 14/07/2025 08:29

Imogen, definitely. I don’t like Mia - it seems like half a name to me (even though I know it’s a full name in its own right). The Imogen I know is never abbreviated.

Imogen, definitely. Mia's overused and I don't see the appeal.

Middle names are not used much.

Why not add another middle name - eg Mia Rose Imogen to help with the flow.
Don't do this. Rose is a filler middle name and most other Mias will be Mia Rose.

Mia Imogen will get said as Mee-uh Rimogen.
