Looking for inspiration in a similar vein to:

Rodney
Gilbert
Jeffrey
Dennis

Currently Jeffrey is our favourite, but want to add to the list and consider other names too.

Thanks to everyone who has replied constructively. Funny that a few have mentioned Patrick as that is my absolute favourite but my husband won't agree to it :(

Most of the ones mentioned that I like, were already on the long list.

For some reason the spelling Geoffrey makes me think of a stodgy pompous old man but Jeff seems quite cool? ( Despite the Dahmer/Epstein connotations which are my main reservations on it) But maybe that is just me.

Thanks though appreciate all the responses

Tbh I think those are out of fashion for a reason (they all sound a bit geeky to me, sorry). But I agree Jeffrey is the best of the bunch as his mates will quickly shorten it to Jeff -but he might have to say “Jeffrey/Jeff with a J” fairly often as that spelling is more the US one.

Patrick is nice though, shame DH isn’t keen. Maybe lovely Hugh? Or Gregory? Phillip? Peter? Stephen? All underused (currently) but a bit more classic. Or you could go down the slightly quirky but with a more commonplace nickname route in case he wants to fit in - like Edmund (Ed), Wilbur (Wil), Benedict (Ben) etc.

I love Peter but unfortunately can't use.

You're right that we are probably looking for a currently underused name. I basically just don't like the current naming trends and also babies become their name so it won't be an issue.

My brothers name got some bad/rude reactions from people (adults) but 25 odd years later it has actually been getting more popular for a little while. So I know that long term these names will be fine and suitable for a person even if they seem a bit odd now

Hadn't realised Jeffrey was the US spelling! Maybe I can use that as leverage for Patrick :)
