Do you think that the name Damian can have these connotations? Would you refuse calling your baby for this reason?

Lewis.. yum

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/06/2025 01:32

That was probably 50 years ago now. Non-issue.

The "dark character" is spelt Damien. Most normal real-life people spell it Damian. In that more common spelling, I think of it as a slightly upper-class-sounding name, but not unusu

...oops, bus jerked! I meant to say but not unusably so - on a par with Charles or Sebastian rather than Tarquin!

Its also off the Arrow DC universe show, Damien is the villain. I automatically assume "bad guy"

I love the name Damian and I don't have any dark associations with it. I just think it's a handsome name.

RightOnTheEdge · 12/06/2025 14:30

My first thought was the Omen but probably because you put dark character in the title.
I don't think most kids today will associate the name with that though.

I had a boy in my class at school called Damien and I can't remember anyone ever bullying him about his name because of the film.

RightOnTheEdge · 12/06/2025 14:33

Oh maybe it was spelled Damian, but he was a nice, gentle kid. So I have good associations with the name.

I love the Omen films, and Damian is a really cool name. I'm a fan!

Kumquatzest · 07/08/2025 17:26

It's a saint's name and it's pretty common among men of Irish Catholic origins (to give one example).

I doubt kids nowadays are even aware of the movie The Omen.
