What do you think of the name Xanthe for a girl?

It means yellow in Greek, and is pronounced Zan-thee.

There are a few where I live.

You can have it first Squack. I'm not even pg yet, just planning ahead/letting my imagination run away with me.

My Xanthe particularly likes the X initial. We know a Xerxes and they share pleasure at having an X. It hasn't caused any problems so far.

none of my kids' names are English and I am most certainly not Chav in the least, whatever that means.

Most names are of foreign origin. Unless those of us from anglo-saxon stock stick with Wilfred and Ethelberta.

BTW, that is not in a bad way. I think it is a lovely, warm sounding name, a name that 'hugs'. Does that make sense?

I love it. I almost named my daughter that. That or the very Greek version, Xanthipi, which was my grandmother's name, and which shouldby traditionhave been my name, too, but my parents thought it was awful (Xanthipi that is.) As princesspeahead said, it means golden--or blonde. And I think Xanthipi means "blonde-haired one" or "blondie". So it'd not have suited me anyway as I've black hair.
