Jackson and Jensen too similar?

Due with baby boy in a few weeks and we like the name Jensen Louis. Our first born is Jackson James. Are Jensen and Jackson too similar for a sibling set?

In my mind Jenson = Jenson Button and Louis (regardless of spelling) = Lewis Hamilton.

Are you a Formula 1 fan?

Cooper
Beckett
Quinn
Finn

Too similar. I know girls with very similar names and everyone gets them muddled - must drive them mad

Same!! I mix them up myself 🙈

PrettyPuss · 02/06/2025 13:15

I wouldn't worry about it, OP if you like the name. Nothing wrong with having similar names.

Louis first- Jensen is awful sorry

HorrorFan81 · 02/06/2025 13:21

Love both names but I do think they are too samey. Do you always call Jackson by his full name or does he go by Jax? That's the only way it could work for me - Jax and Jenson

I really like Jensen but I think they’re probably a bit similar. How about

Lol, we actually are but the names aren't intentionally because of that. Louis would be pronounced Louie though. The actual spelling of the family name is Lui but it always gets mispronounced so we wanted something more definitive for "Lu-wee". It's a family name hence why we are using it as a middle name.

Yes

I’ve known two sisters called Emily and Eloise for years. Family call them Ems and Els. To this day I panic before I see them because I can’t remember who is who. I’m great with names, it’s not that, they are just too similar I can’t distinguish between the two.

AndCallMeNancy · 02/06/2025 14:41

Too samey for me too.

Jackson and Flynn sound good together.

I think that combination works well too.

Or Jackson and Finn.

They both obviously mean “John’s Son” (Jack/Jens are variants of John) as well as having very similar sounds - so it would be kind of cool if their dad is named John but a bit weird if not to name both boys that way imo 🤣

If you like surnames as first names I’d personally go for something similar but with a different ending sound - and which can be easily shortened like Jackson is to Jack/Jax. Maybe Bennett? (Ben) Maxwell? (Max) Sullivan? (Sully/Sonny) Callahan? (Cal)

Maxorias · 04/06/2025 03:06

One of my favourite surnamey names is Grayson. Might have used it if I was from an english speaking country. But I'm not and it'd have sounded really weird with my last name 😂

Thanks all! We're really stuck. I don't want to use Louis as a first name because it's a family name that frankly I don't want to use all the time. My husband is a teacher so all common names are basically out the window because they remind him of someone else.

I'm a fan of the surname-style names that are not overused and would age well and obviously something that would pair well with his sibling Jackson James. Any other ideas?

Cooper?
