Can two female siblings have the same middle name as their mother or is that a bit ridiculous?

Normal to me as someone who shares a family middle name with my siblings and mother. Though if it's not a family name and just a name like Emma/Isabella then that's a little weird but like everyone here said no one will really know/care.

I know a family where all boys have the same middle name included in their full names. It's quite an unusual middle name, but they have another middle name as well. Eg. Marcus Andrew Chandler Smith is the dad, he has two boys called John Henry Chandler Smith and Benjamin Lewis Chandler Smith.

I think it's quite common to do this in Scotland? Not sure but I'm sure I've heard of more than one Scottish family doing something like this

I have the same middle name as my mother, my brother has the same middle name as our father. If my mother had more children they would have shared the same middle names.

Um- normal? All the women in my family have the same middle name. It was the surname of an ancestor of yore and carried down. Ditto DH's family. All the boys have the same middle name. It's really common in my world.

Another branch of our family has every single female FIRST name the same. Each girl is known by her middle name until the age of 18 when she magically is known as the first name and there is a naming celebration.

That's more odd to my mind- but again is how it has been done for ages.

(All White British backgrounds, by the way)

All three of my DC have the same middle name. DH has a hyphenated surname. We chose to give them only one name as a surname and gave them all the other as a middle name.

We have a family name in as a middle name for the women in our family, I hope my DDs use it too. For me a middle name needs to have connection to give meaning such as a name across the generations, honouring a family member.

I agree with many, I think it's a lovely idea and perfectly fine!
