Oden.
This isn't actually my ds' name but his younger brother couldn't say his name and ended up calling him this and its turned into a very frequently used nick name for him by all of us. After reading some of the threads where unknown parent have been judged for what they shout across the supermarket to their children i wondered what reception the name 'Oden' would get? (I wont be offended whatever you say)

god my dd calls my son henry puppy and its stuck! he is only 20 months old but we really must stop it soon. Its hilarious to see reactions when i forget and shout out "puppy" in a public place! like the nickname by the way.

I like it.
I wouldn't worry about it I frequently call DS by his nickname - YoYo. I get a few strange looks but I know it's not his actual name.

Ummm. Not sure. It sounds too "sorry can you repeat that?".

I don't dislike it, I'm just not sure what I've heard. It's like Boden at the Odeon Cinema!

JodieG1 · 20/05/2008 16:45

It made me think of odeon cinemas.

I would think cool name. Would make tentative. link to norse god or whichever
Or possibly think that you were shouting "Aiden" with a strong accent!

I'd say don't worry about judgy people! They're all over and, worst of all, they all have different opinions! You can never win! NEVER!

As long as you're not from Liverpool.

"Now den, Oden. Ey, ey, ey."

nooka · 20/05/2008 17:00

I'd think Odin too. Nicknames are fun. I do slightly wonder at what point I should stop calling ds his nickname (wiggle) in public, but the other day he wanted reassurance that I'd still call him that when he grows up, so I guess I've a while yet He's nine.

Lol, not from liverpool, we're in birmingham. Our ds2s nickname is shmikel (like the dog in corrie lol) so when we are all out together we must sound like a right bunch!
