Ruairí what? Struggle for a middle name

We think we’ve decided on Ruairí but are struggling for a middle name, our other kids have nature based English language middle names.

Any ideas?

I'm resisting the urge to suggest Ruairí Bear or Ruairí Tiger! I think you need to be careful here or it could sound like Roar-y as an adjective.
Ruairí Logan
Ruairí Jupiter
Ruairí Flint
Ruairí Drake
Ruairí Bryn
Ruairí Asher
Ruairí Acer

The pronunciation is more Roo-ree than Rory but appreciate that it does mean that animal names are less appropriate.

Outside of nature names Alexander was on the list so it’s interesting it has been suggested, the names do sound well together I think!

It’s a difficult name to spell to, I have easy, Diana, born 1962, confused with Diane then, which I hated and complained lots got it wrong, middle name Katharine, confused Katherine spelling.
Vowed my sons would have names to spell, and not got wrong like mine,

SomeoneElseDidIt · 02/05/2025 23:09

James, Alexander, William, Angus, Declan, Ellis

It’s not really, Irish is spoken fluently by most of the family and local community. It is spelt absolutely phonetically in Irish.

I think Conor is lovely with Ruarí, but if you want something nature based, what about Finn, Oisín, Beckett, Arthur or Dylan?

youreallygotmethere · 03/05/2025 14:45

I feel it needs a single syllable middle name and more so if you have a number of syllables in the surname. To make it rhythmically pleasing Grin

So something like:

Jack
Sean
Paul
Max
John
Mark
Luke

HugoYorway · 03/05/2025 15:08

But that falls into a filler middle name category. I prefer a meaningful middle name.
