I am not preganant and I have no intention of having any more children. But I heard this today and think it is very nice.

Ive met a girl called Kendal and it really suits her somehow. I like it but dont know what they call her in the playground.

Kendal Araminta (and if your surname is Cake, so much the better)

dizzydixies · 17/05/2008 22:04

I quite like Araminta though

One of my oldest friends is called Kendra ... though that's a bit by-the-by.

hermia · 17/05/2008 22:14

Also knew one called Fizz.. short for Fizzle maybe.

Naming yor child after anywhere in the AA Bok of the Road is, in my view, a complete no-no. Otherwise ...

congratulations on the birth of Dagenham Auchtermuchty, a little sister for Whitstable and Wisbech.

Better than Paris though..

Have you met my children - Putney, Barnes and Mortlake?

They have posh cousins called Richmond and St Margarets (that's pronounces Simeon)

Tommy · 18/05/2008 06:25

lol at mintcake - that was the first thing I thought of too.

All these "unusual" names remind me of an old Irish great aunt of mine who, when she found out that her new grand daughter was going to be called Hazel, said " All the saints in Heaven and you have to go and call her after a bloody nut..."

oxocube · 18/05/2008 06:46

Very american

I have a very very good friend by the name of Kendal. Apparently named for a relation on her mother's side and nothing at all to do with mint cake or AA road maps!

There is always a raised eyebrow on introductions but she's a sparky confident woman and it doesn't seem to bother her.

LOL at posh cousins called Richmond and St Margarets

It's not as bad as some I've seen on here.

NurkMagiggy · 18/05/2008 08:07

Candle is nice.
Sonic Youth song.

I went to primary school with a girl called Kendal so the name makes me think of her rather than the town. BUt can see why that would be a common association.

MeMySonAndI · 18/05/2008 08:34

we have a Kendal Bridge here
