Sister for Raffy and Dolly?

AquaWriter · 26/04/2025 19:05

Hi all, me and my husband are expecting a little girl and have been going back and forth on baby names. We currently have a son named Rafferty who we call Raffy usually and a daughter named Delores who we tend to call Dolly. I would love a name that fits into the style of my previous two children that can be shortened to a nickname as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think we might be more bothered about ideas for naming the baby. @AquaWriter hasn't returned after the opening post.

@FindAnother appreciate the grave concern but as much as the replies were really helpful and we’ve now chosen a name from them, i’m not really sure why it’s any of your business whether i have time to reply. I’m a university lecturer during finals and i have two under five.

we’ve decided to use betsy as a middle name, thank you for the idea!

You asked a question, then no response…good job PP’s have ‘time to reply’.

@FindAnother some of us don’t have time to obsess over random people on mumsnet but that’s just me. maybe you should get a life rather than focus on my replies, just a suggestion.

This is a wind up thread, isn’t it? Is it half term already?

Crispynoodle · 08/05/2025 07:42

As another lecturer I completely understand! This time of year is lethal!

Then why start a thread when you have no intention of answering and then when you eventually do, solely be snarky to the posters?

This is really not for you!

So full of random people on Mumsnet!

How disrespectful to PP’s time and effort.

Yes it’s a bit rude when she’s asked for advice and people have given it.

Catherine or Catriona, nn Kitty

AquaWriter · 08/05/2025 13:09

No it’s not rude. I asked for advice and people kindly gave it. I being extremely busy, had not been able to reply. This does not mean i hadn’t appreciated the advice or taken it on. What is rude is someone coming here and shaming me for not replying, writing a snarky comment and carrying on to argue with me, then when i defend myself people like you coming in and being rude. Not that it’s any of your business but I am a university lecturer during finals, i am a mother to a five year old daughter, a three year old with additional needs, and i’m pregnant. When i asked for advice i did not realise i had to reply to every comment and i certainly did not think i would be criticised and ganged up on by a bunch of women!

Agreed. I’m not sure they work together.

Dolores and Dorothy go better but I just think Dolly and Dotty sounds like a CeeBeebies show.

I have a rafferty, it’s a lovely name. If it’s a boy I love the name Laurie. (Sarah Beeny inspired 😂)
