Rose as a first name

The only girl's name me and DH both seem to like - but I can't think of a middle name which works with it. Eg Catherine Rose (my first choice, but DH doesn't like Catherine) works well, but Rose Catherine just doesn't really roll off the tongue. Any suggestions?

Thank you - glad people like Rose as a first name anyway, was worried it might be a bit, well, short! Funnily enough I had thought Rose Catherine and Rose Elizabeth sounded a bit odd - I must be imagining it as people seem to like them! I quite like Rose Hermione.

its a lovely name

NoNickname · 16/05/2008 12:21

How about Rosie instead?

Rosie Catherine sounds good then.

belgo · 16/05/2008 12:22

Not so keen on Rose Ella

Rose Beatrice is nice

piratecat · 16/05/2008 12:24

OrmIrian · 16/05/2008 12:25

Rose is a lovely name.

Rose Amelia, Rose Elizabeth, Rose Louise, Rose...

moogmum · 16/05/2008 14:18

I have a Rose Elizabeth - think is lovely (obviously, since I chose it)

Mavornia · 16/05/2008 20:54

I love the name Rose, especially as a first name.

I like it with a slightly unusual (though not weird) middle name:

Rose Amadea
Rose Violetta
Rose Saphira
Rose Luciana
Rose Amaranta
Rose Alessandra

Nancy66 · 16/05/2008 21:33

Rose is a lovely name.

It's OK to not have a middle name.

Doohickey · 16/05/2008 21:52

I have a Rose Anwen (nod to the Welsh contingent in DH's family).

AHLH · 16/05/2008 21:59

My granny was Rose, but know as Rosita by her Chillean family - "Little Rose"

bamboostalks · 16/05/2008 22:05

She is Rose Margaret after my mother.

She loves it,doesn't know any other Roses. She is 16 yr

brimfull · 16/05/2008 22:10

My dd is definitely not a Rosie,no one calls her that.Just Rose.

bluenosesaint · 16/05/2008 22:21

I think Rose is a beautiful name. Very under-used as a first name.

Re a middle name for Rose, i think it needs to begin with a vowel:

Rose Isabella
Rose Alicia
Rose Eliza
Rose Amelia
Rose Alexandra
Rose Elizabeth
Rose Alexia
Rose Imogen
Rose Olivia
Rose Antonia
Rose Evelyn
Rose Arielle
Rose Emma
Rose Amber
Rose Eva

pointydog · 16/05/2008 22:22

Rose Margaret - best yet

oliviaelanasmum · 16/05/2008 22:25

I have an Elana-Rose (all one name and no middle name) and we use it in full nearly all the time, obviously she gets her surname tacked on when she is naughty

fishie · 16/05/2008 22:27

ds would have been rose, it is a lovely charming name.

do not understand middle name worries, never use mine nobody knows what it is (apart from half mn who also have jane as middle name). i think it is a good opportunity to use family names and be sentimental.

WhatSheSaid · 16/05/2008 22:28

Rose is a great first name and, as others have pointed out, is used a lot as a middle name but not so much as a first name.

I really liked it for dd but as we have a one syllable surname we went for a longer first name...with Rose as the middle name of course!

bluenosesaint · 16/05/2008 22:30

I use my dd's middle names all the time and to me they are just as important as their first names.

They love their middle names and use them all the time too - they see it as an extention of their first names. In fact, my dd2 went through a spell where she would only respond if you called her by her middle name

dylanthecat · 16/05/2008 22:30

my friends just had dd2 2 weeks ago and her name is Rose Amy

fishie · 16/05/2008 22:31

bluenose that is really sweet. did you choose the names with that in mind, or did it just happen?
