my 2 dd's love the disney princesses - am I suffering from over-exposure do you think? as the name Cinderella now seems quite an acceptable option for a girl - shortened to Cindy or Ella.

nutter

Stroppyknickers · 16/05/2008 08:25

I knew a woman called Cindy, and she so didn't suit the name. unless baby grows up to be lovely, and able to speak to animals, it may be a bad idea.

CorrieDale · 16/05/2008 08:33

lol!!!! Top wind-up muffin!

beforesunrise · 16/05/2008 08:33

it's not you, it's those evil hormones. also way toooo much pink and princesses (i feel for you). you need a disney detox.

the madness will pass.

there is always princess consuela bananahammock if you are truly stuck for names

savoycabbage · 16/05/2008 08:38

It's horrible. And even if it wasn't the fact that you have two other daughters.....How would they feel being called the ugly sisters?

TinkerbellesMum · 16/05/2008 10:18

My Grandad knows this story off by heart, he used to tell it to us when we were little. He did all the voices and everything!

jcscot · 17/05/2008 15:48

Re Disnet names, a neighbour of my Mum worked in the local registry office in our town and knew of at least one poor wee baby girl who's parents named her Pocahontas. Surname was McGinty.

Poor child.

NotABanana · 17/05/2008 15:52

Why would you want to be cruel to your baby?

Boco · 17/05/2008 15:58

I just asked my 5 year old dd what she thought of calling a baby Cinderella.

She looked confused and said 'No, it's not a good idea because it means you're getting muddled up between real things, like babies, and not real things, like DVDs.'

VictorianSqualor · 17/05/2008 15:59

LOL, Boco.
She's great

SimpleAsABC · 17/05/2008 15:59

OH MY GOD!!!

My dads cousin was in hospital with the woman who named her baby pochahontas mcginty!!!!!!!!!!

Boco · 17/05/2008 16:01

I thought that was particularly astute of her. Although her baby doll is called Tony, so maybe she's keeping it a bit too real.

lackaDAISYcal · 17/05/2008 16:03

Why, Oh why, oh why, oh why

jk1 · 17/05/2008 16:16

I suffered with this sydrome in my last pregnancy when I fell in love with Tinkerbell and Electra!

Wait for hormones to settle then make a descision!

QOD · 17/05/2008 16:18

I think it's GORGEOUS!

and I would laugh if someone I knew used it...

LOL sorry!

TinkerbellesMum · 17/05/2008 16:47

JK1, Tink is my daughter's name (except it's not on her birth certificate )

I wonder if anyone read my story

jk1 · 17/05/2008 17:13

Tinkerbelle is cute! I think is fine to go with theese kinda names you just have to be really confident in your choice and be prepared to face your critics!

VictorianSqualor · 17/05/2008 17:39

It's not you that will have to deal with critics though jk1, it's the child.

Tinkerbellesmum is she known as tinkerbell at school?

TinkerbellesMum · 17/05/2008 18:22

She's not at school yet (22 months) but she is known as that where ever she is, it's interchangable with her name - so only people who hear me call it her think it really is (although someone on one message board really did think it was her name).

savoycabbage · 17/05/2008 18:24

I love the doll called Tony!

hullygully · 17/05/2008 18:26

My daughter is called Cindabella

blinkingthreetimes · 17/05/2008 18:31

YOU WILL REGRET IT.

It will be cute for about two weeks ,she will always resent you for calling her a wacky name ,she will in all likelihood shorten it or change it.

Imagine :

The taunts at school and college

people laughing then saying "no really whats your name?"

Noone ever giving her a job after looking at her application .

Noone ever ever taking her serioulsy.

Sorry if I am been harsh but I am hoping you have pregnancy hormones today or winding us all up.

noddyholder · 17/05/2008 18:35

When my ds was little he was obsessed with teh book and I had to read it every night and he insisted on calling it Serandello so that should put you off!

blinkingthreetimes · 17/05/2008 18:38

Do you remember the woman who called her newborn Lala ? Just because her 2 year old loved the telletubbies !

I have an idea anyway get the lo's a hamster or something and let them call that cinderella .

Ella is nice for a baby though.
