Nothing that can be shortened to Ro, Ax, Jo, Bo, Evie, Connie, Fin, Des, Pru, Al, Polly, Stu, Kay, Ria, Lou or Pen.
Nothing ending in -in -ine sounds (eg Quinn)
Nothing ending in -and or -as
Nothing that’s a also a noun (eg Fox) a verb (eg Mark) or an adjective (eg Dusty)

Preferably not I.Dent, A.Dent and I’d personally prefer to avoid the initials OD

So maybe
Cecily Dent
Claudia Dent
Georgina Dent

Matthew Dent
Barnaby Dent
Magnus Dent

How about Oxi for a DD?

I'm sure her eventual nieces and nephews, if she subsequently has any, would enjoy respectfully addressing her fully.

Opened the thread to see how many people would suggest Arthur. Mumsnet never disappoints 😂. Though I would go for Jasper or something else with 2 syllables that's difficult to shorten. And not ending in n or an ee sound, as this makes it tend to sound like a personal hygiene product.

I think you need three syllables with the stress on the first or second, and I'd avoid a name beginning with D, or ending with D or T.

Just a few examples that I think go quite well with Dent (I deliberately haven't read all the suggestions, so you can see if more than one person has chosen some of them):

Emily, Eliza, Francesca, Bethany, Vivien, Natalie, Rebecca, Isabel

Jeremy, Anthony, Christopher, Benjamin, Joshua, Harrison, Theodore, Oliver

HeCharters · 27/02/2025 21:53

i disagree. 2 syllables works better.

HiYouKnowItsMe · 31/03/2025 10:48

car

I think you need a traditional two or three syllable name, that's not Arthur, and a middle name that's not Arthur either. And I think you need to avoid a vowel ending.

Matthew James Dent
Thomas Alexander Dent
Samuel John Dent

Harriet Evelyn Dent
Catherine Jane Dent
Elizabeth Rose Dent
