Alternative to Isla?

35 weeks pregnant and DH and I cannot settle on a name!

I LOVE the name Isla, but he's not convinced. Doesn't hate it, doesn't love it. Doing my best to keep an open mind despite the fact I've been calling the baby Isla in my head for months now.... 😬

Would love any alternative suggestions which are similar!

Eilidh is lovely, but only people who have lived in Scotland will know how to pronounce it. Isla is very popular now and hence rather a boring choice. Eloise is a lovely alternative.

What about Emma? Don't see it so much now but it's beautiful and a lite more likely to be the only one in her class than amongst three Islas.

My dad wasn’t keen on my sister’s name and BIL wasn’t keen on nephew’s. It’ll grow on him.

As I say, the only ayla I’ve met was pronounced the same as Isla (eye-lah). She spent her life correcting people who said it with the first syllable rhyming with ‘May’. Perhaps she was pronouncing it in an usual way though!

I also know a little Ayla, pronounced the same as Isla. She lives in Australia, if that makes a difference.

Aria or Nora.

I used chat gpt to try and find a name, asked it to suggest names I might like if I like x, y, z. It came up with some really good ones!
