A Name For Our Last Girl!

IssabelleMarguerite · 19/01/2025 20:50

Hello! We are officially adopting newborn boy-girl twins this April! We already have baby boy's name picked out, but we are caught between 2 for our little girl. We love Greek mythology-inspired baby names and classier names with loads of nicknames. (I'm a professor of classics) We would be so grateful for any help you can give us! Here are our current kids:

  • Theodore Evander (Theo, Teddy)
  • Artemis Rose (Missy, Rose)
  • Christopher Lucas (Kit)
  • Clara Athena (CC, Lara)
  • Julia Persephone (Jules, Seph)
For the twins we are thinking:
  • Tristian Apollo (Tris)
and...
  • Hestia Wren (Tia)
  • Stella Calliope (Ella, Callie)

I’ll be brutally honest OP - Hestia sounds like some sort of STD.

AKettleOfDifferentFish · 19/01/2025 20:55

Phoebe Wren sounds nice.

And I know it's Latin not Greek but how about Minerva?

Thewrongdoor · 19/01/2025 20:56

Right…

Squirma · 19/01/2025 21:11

He-stia
Tri-stia-n
Too samey.
Ella is greek but means come so if you say Ella to someone, it means come here.

Antigoni-Tiggy
Cassandra- Cass, Cassie, Sandy

MikeRafone · 19/01/2025 21:12

Stella. Comes in pint sizes

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 19/01/2025 21:34

You have 5 kids already and SS are letting you adopt 2? Which so happen to be B-G newborn twins? How very unusual.

user1492757084 · 19/01/2025 21:35

Stella Chloe
Callidora Hebe
Phoebe Wren - my fave

Apollo Tristan
Aristos George
Pavlos Apollo

Moreteaandchocolate · 19/01/2025 21:46

I love Tristan (Tris) - would Tristian be misheard at Tristan a lot?

Hestia is a lovely, unusual name - I love Tia. Although Tris and Tia are quite matchy, I do like them together.

Stella is great too and I love Sephy as a nn.

Other ideas

Althea (Thea)
Carissa (Cassie / Carrie)
Cassandra (Cassie / Sandy)

Are you in the UK?

paranoiaofpufflings · 19/01/2025 22:04

Are you actually writing a book and trying to name your characters?

Why would two of your kids have nicknames for their middle names?

ohat · 19/01/2025 22:05

Thewrongdoor · 19/01/2025 20:56

Right…

😒😒

DramaAlpaca · 19/01/2025 22:07

You're very imaginative, OP.

IsThePopeCatholic · 19/01/2025 22:08

Pull the other one, op. It’s all Greek to me.

Switcher · 19/01/2025 22:09

Sure.

ZiggyZowie · 19/01/2025 22:15

Ariadne

Cassandra

Larissa

Persephone

devongirl12 · 19/01/2025 23:13

You have 5 kids and you are adopting 2 more?

PrincessOfPreschool · 19/01/2025 23:29

Why would you have nicknames for middle names? Filling out a sixth form application with my DD robot and she said, "How do you spell my middle name again?" It is a Welsh name but still not difficult! Just at rarely used!

PrincessOfPreschool · 19/01/2025 23:30

My DD is not a robot. That should say "with my DD tonight"

ODFOx · 20/01/2025 00:16

Tristian (or Tristan) is a brave swerve into Celtic folk tales, away from Greek classicism. Have you considered Theseus or Leander?

Theseus and Hero
Leander and Thebe

Dolos and Apate if you're looking for something less well known.

Enough4me · 20/01/2025 00:25

These are cats?

😂

SnowFrogJelly · 20/01/2025 00:56

Are you for real OP

Those names are awful

gokartdillydilly · 20/01/2025 01:27

gokartdillydilly · 20/01/2025 01:28
