August Lucian
Lucas Theseus
Alistair Ewan
Orson Leonardo
Cassian Caleb

I think you need to use three syllable name either in middle or as first, because two two syllable names might sound choppy with one syllable surname

other ideas
August Elias
Orson Frederick
Alistair Toby
Theseus Liam
Artemis Bruno
Lucas Gregory
Lucian Victor

@OP If you like names from other cultures - and why not - it's probably a good idea to get them right:
Eg Alasdair for Scottish Gaelic. NB It's not something misty and "Celtic", just international for the past 2000 years and more ( and = ancient Macedonian/by conquest Greek) Alexander spelled in Gaelic. A very nice name, regardless.

Artemis = female. So much so that she was the pretty implacable huntress of all kinds of male people. https://www.theoi.com/Olympios/Artemis.html

Artemus is the rare but more definitely male version of the name.

ARTEMIS - Greek Goddess of Hunting & Wild Animals

Artemis was the ancient Greek goddess of hunting, the wilderness and wild animals. She was also a goddess of childbirth, and the protectress of the girl child. She was usually depicted as a girl dressed in a knee-length dress with a hunting bow and a q...

Blame Artemis Fowl.

@nameXname I'm well aware of both of those associations, thanks for the condescending response. I can spell my child's name how I like, it does not have to be deemed to be historically suitable. Language changes and so do names.

You're wrong, tho
Artemis is traditionally unisex name in English speaking worlds
this fictional boy is Artemis, but it been long been used as male name in English speaking world
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemis_Fowl
Alastair - it's acceptable variation of Alasdair.

The original male versions are Artemios (Gk) Artemius/Artemus (Latin) meaning devotee of Artemis the goddess. You get other versions like Artemio in Italy and Artem in Russia via Artemy.

There are some Greek men called Artemis - but the Greek language allows for a masculine and feminine version - which is lost in the English translation.

Personally I wouldn’t call a boy Artemis as the spelling has neither the original indication of male devotee of the Artemis nor the masculine form used in Greece.

I like Leonardo and Theseus.

Yeah, just like Andrea means male strength, but in most of world, it's feminine name.
Names change gender all the time between cultures, especially in English, which doesn't have gendered words and has more gender neutral names than other languages.

shoopshoopdedoo · 14/01/2025 20:06

I love Alasdair!
Ruben and Caleb would be my runners up from your list, though know lots of baby Reubens.

I also see Artemis as a girls name, and only know girls with this name - but I do really like it for a girl!

Edited

That hasn’t happened with Artemis though.

Half the world Andrea is male the other half it’s female.

In the vast majority of the world, Artemis is a female goddess. The number of men called it is minute, the majority are Greek and that has a masculine version.
