We are considering this name for baby number 2. I like Lili as a nickname too, but would prefer Liliana. Wdyt?

I think it's lovely. Works at any life stage and suits a broad array of personalities. Just as great for a tomboyish toddler as it is for an edgy alt teen or a research scientist in their 50s. Beautiful name!

wandawaves · 11/01/2025 08:16

Love it!
Lillian is also beautiful.

Catlord · 11/01/2025 08:21

Fine but over frilly. I prefer Lillian. I would consider surname length and complexity with that type of name: Liliana Jones is great. Liliana Wilkington is a mouthful.

ChocoChocoLatte · 11/01/2025 09:23

What about Lilith ?

EcruCardigan · 11/01/2025 09:41

It sounds like Lily Arnold when you say it.
(Saying this because I know a Name Arnold who some think she's Name-iana.)

GreenTeaLikesMe · 11/01/2025 16:31

Not keen. Feels like an attempt to make the rather overused "Lily" interesting.

Bienemaias · 11/01/2025 16:46

It's likely to get shortened to Lily, which is very overused and starting to sound a little dated.

EcruCardigan · 11/01/2025 19:02

Agree with @GreenTeaLikesMe and @Bienemaias , it's just plain old Lily with a trailing bit.

Eugenia1976 · 11/01/2025 19:04

I would assume Eastern European as The Liliana’s I know are from EE.

devongirl12 · 11/01/2025 19:04

I very much like Lilian, but find Liliana just too long and flowery and too much of a mouthful.

I know a little girl called Emilia (Em-il-ay-a) which I find a total mouthful and I find Liliana to be similar.

Leeloo1233 · 12/01/2025 14:26

I do think it's quite Russian. But maybe thats not a bad thing :D

BringOnTheSunshineNow · 13/01/2025 08:52

Lilli anna as a pronunciation just sounds like a double barrelled name to me.

Surely lilly-ahh-na is correct

I know an Emiliana - she's Italian. Great name.

Some of have short flat vowels and it will sound like -anna.

RuthW · 13/01/2025 12:12

Lovely but I like any arna names.

EcruCardigan · 13/01/2025 12:18

I don't like them. The shorter versions like Lily or Emily are much nicer. I find the -ana detracts. They'll get shortened anyway.

Efillufwa · 13/01/2025 12:19

I love that name. It was the name I picked out for my child , before we knew it was going to be a boy!

Frankley · 13/01/2025 12:20

My husband had a relative with the name Lilias. I think it was quite common a generation or so ago.
