Nicholas?

Thoughts? To be shortened to Nick but full name to be Nicholas on birth certificate. I love it but doesn’t seem very popular anymore (not necessarily a bad thing!)

I like it. Nick is very approachable

Himawarigirl · 03/01/2025 17:44

I like it. Not sure why it’s not popular anymore, but nice to have a lovely name and know there won’t be loads of them.

Classic name, and one I think will rise in popularity in the next few years.

OneAmberFinch · 03/01/2025 17:51

I think it's lovely!

Moreteaandchocolate · 03/01/2025 17:53

Lovely, underused classic! Don’t know why it’s not used much at the moment.

Almahart · 03/01/2025 17:53

I love it

mathanxiety · 03/01/2025 17:54

It's a great name. Classic and not faddy.

Topseyt123 · 03/01/2025 17:55

I like it. Classic and timeless.

maddiemookins16mum · 03/01/2025 17:56

Great name.

tarheelbaby · 03/01/2025 17:56

I quite like it and considered it for my DCs but they were both DDs.
Nick and Nico are both good nicknames and it's also good to have a full name on documents.

Hawkerslife · 03/01/2025 18:05

I loved it and considered it myself but my snide sister in law put me off by saying he'd be known as 'knicker-less' 🙄.

UsernamePain · 03/01/2025 18:07

I love it. It was on my list but I had girls.

Gowlett · 03/01/2025 18:08

Lovely name. I like Nicky, too.

ginasevern · 03/01/2025 18:18

A lovely, timeless classic (and classy) name. Nick is solid too. Go for it.

That didn’t even cross my mind!!

Nice name, ages well.

It actually fits in well with the move towards softer sounding names for boys without actually being “trendy”. Though you could well be ahead of the curve and find it so in a few years!

Windmill34 · 03/01/2025 18:39

My son is now 37yrs old and called Nicholas
Nick
nice to see it make a comeback

I don’t think it would cross most people’s minds! Don’t let this put you off.

All the Nicholas's I went to primary school got called 'knicker-less' or some other knicker based teasing. It's a same as it's otherwise a nice name but kids can be horrid to each other.

I have learnt something! I never even thought of the association! Even those who were commonly called Nick?

I love it. Classic. Strong. Timeless.

Popular but not too popular.

Sandsnake · 03/01/2025 18:56

I really like Nicholas. Nick is ok, but don’t quite like as much.

Like pp I can see Nicholas having a comeback, but maybe more with the shortened version of ‘Nico’ rather than Nick. A little bit like the growth in the popularity of Christopher and Kit, rather than Chris.

Scutterbug · 03/01/2025 18:57

I’m another who automatically thinks knicker-less.

MumChp · 03/01/2025 18:58

It's nice.
