I know this is mainly used a filler for a middle name but how often is it used as a first name?

I think its classic and beautiful

Lovely name 😊

sunsettosunrise · 28/12/2024 04:04

I'm 25 and I knew loads of Graces growing up. It became quite popular in the 2000s but it's popularity has dwindled in recent years. It is a classic though, and it's not dated to the early 21st Century.

SammyScrounge · 28/12/2024 04:11

I has an Auntie Grace. I love the be.

Grace is perfect. Well known, great history and meaning and not a top ten right now.

Dyslexiateacherpost88 · 28/12/2024 04:45

I love the name . The only thing against I'd say, is one lady I know called Grace, who hated her name. She was extremely overweight (over max of bathroom scales) and so felt her name was embarrassing. It put me off using it. I know other people called Grace who love their names.

Cute name and nothing ‘wrong’ with it. Just really boring and bit ‘blurgh’ imo

Comedycook · 28/12/2024 10:59

So overused imo. I inwardly sigh when I hear it...in the same vein as Evie

Bournetilly · 28/12/2024 11:36

I do like it but it’s a boring name, I’d say better as a middle name.

Jeeeeez · 28/12/2024 16:52

Massively overused as a middle name and tbh a bit dull as a first name. As a pp said, it’s in the same catagory as Evie. There are a lot of them.

RubyBirdy · 28/12/2024 19:07

There are two in my daughter’s nursery in her age group, and we know another two. All under 2 years old.

Challas · 28/12/2024 19:10

Any descriptive name is a real risk...I wouldn't for a first name. A dyspraxic overweight girl would not thank you!

TheaBrandt · 28/12/2024 19:12

Overused. We know lots the main two are both horrible and the exact opposite of graceful. Graceless more like.

Sk1sk0 · 28/12/2024 19:19

I like it

Moveoverdarlin · 28/12/2024 19:20

I’m not keen on it at all.

leia24 · 28/12/2024 19:35

I love the name Grace and every Grace I know is really lovely. I know about 5 teenage Graces but that's across a million teenage girls I know through work and a teenage daughter who goes to an all girls school and does competitive sports etc!

mumbruh · 28/12/2024 19:48

Know two that are 10

BoleynMemories13 · 28/12/2024 20:54

Grace is an absolute classic. Far better to choose a classic name which has stood the test of time and will continue to do so, than something trendy and 'of the moment'.

It annoys me when people refer to it as a 'filler middle name' (this site seems to be obsessed with labelling this, Rose and May as filler names). It has been popular throughout the generations, therefore for many many people it is a family name. Added to the fact it's only 1 syllable and therefore flows perfectly with lots of names, it makes for the perfect middle name and it's totally understandable why so many people use it. Filler suggests no thought has gone into it, whereas for many who use it it will carry meaning which imo is far better than choosing a random name just because it's less popular. That would be the definition of 'filler' to me.

shoopshoopdedoo · 28/12/2024 21:15

I like it, but I’d never use it or want to be called it, on the basis that I’m more clumsy than graceful and I think the name would be a bit of a burden!
