Can we use Miles David?

Hello,

We’re currently expecting our first baby and the due date is getting close! It’s a surprise, so we’re trying to prepare both a boy’s name and a girl’s name.

For a boy, basically the only first name we can agree on is Miles. But we’d been planning to use the middle name David after a much-loved family member.

Is ‘Miles David <surname>’ usable or not? I’m worried that too many people will connect it with a particular reference.

Thank you in advance 😊

It's fine but do not spell it as Myles.

Miles is one of those names that is lively when well articulated, awful when not. Have a think about how your friends and family will say it and swerve if it might be Miiyaaws with a drawn out ratty intonation. Would it be strangled on East Enders?

I know a Miles David and in 50 years the connection has not occurred to me until this thread. Given that his father is a jazz fan, he probably was named after Miles Davies 😂

It's not like people announce their middle names much anyway; he'll just be Miles <surname>. Even so it's pretty innocuous.
Years ago I and some others had to talk my bf out of naming her son Wesley Snipes <surname>
I used to toy with the idea of naming my son Raoul because my married name was Julius. Luckily for my kids they were both girls

Yeah it’s really nice

I might raise an eyebrow at Craig David.
