Name suggestions?

I'm honestly stuck. I can't find anything I really love. I'm 14 weeks so have plenty of time but I hate not having at least some possibilities!

We don't know gender yet (I'll admit I have a gut feeling it's a girl but we'll see) so looking for ideas for both. My partner doesn't like word names for either gender or -lyn/line girl names and just says he wants something pretty for a girl or strong for a boy. I like slightly less traditional but not weird, and I lean heavily towards softer names. Can anyone give some suggestions?

What are ones you've sort of liked, or liked but rejected?

Some ideas of names I think sound soft (in my head this is soft consonants), not super traditional, but not word names.

Girls: Alyssa, Abigail, Molly, Elise, Sasha, Phoebe, Macey, Cecilia, Eloise, Faye
Boys: Jasper, Julian, Gabriel, Milo, Ellis, Owen, Asher, Sawyer, Silas, Elias

something pretty for a girl or strong for a boy Priti and Atlas.

Why can't a girl have a strong name and a boy a pretty name?

Camia · 23/11/2024 23:37

Thank you everyone! I am liking Evie the more I think about it, though not sure if I'd like it just on its own (and Evelyn and Evangeline are both out due to my partner's rules and I don't love them anyway), and Hallie and Isla are pretty too. I do like Rowan and Asher for a boy but I have nephews named Rowan and a name very similar to Asher so that probably rules those out. Atlas is nice, I haven't ever met an Atlas or thought of it as a usable baby name before but now that I'm thinking about it I think it would be.

@DuchessOfSausage I have nothing against it, like I said I personally lean towards softer names for boys too, I'm just including my partner's preferences so I can hopefully find some names he'd like too.

You could use Genevieve as a long form for Evie? Or even Geneva or Evadne. But Evie is also a valid name by itself.

For boys sounds like you do like nature names if you like Rowan, Asher and Atlas? Based on that and sound how about: Finley, Hudson, Oakley, August, Robin, Caspian, Rhys, Everett, Leo, Dylan

For a girl, Venetia or Sibylla.
