After 4 boys....

So I'm actually nervous about posting this as I know how brutal some of you can be but all entitled to an opinion and I need some help lol.

So after 4 boys I'm expecting my 5th and final baby which is a girl (still convinced they are wrong 😂) but I have absolutely no idea on a name for her. The boys names don't really "match" so there's no theme I was to follow or anything. I have a Liam, Tommy, Finley and Reuben.

The girls names I've got written down are:

Harper
Myah
Frankie
Mylie

I appreciate not everyone's taste though.

Aww that is so lovely, I have 4 girls and 1 boy actually so the opposite but my boy is my middle child 😁

I think most girl names will go fine with your boy names - they are lovely by the way.

My favourite of your names is Harper. If you don't want to spell Maya as Myah, I just wouldn't go for it. And if you don't like Francesca, just don't go for Frankie - it isn't as good of a name on its own. Mylie is not good at all I am sorry. If it were me, I think I'd go for an obviously feminine name (so not Georgie etc.) just because she's the only girl but of course it doesn't matter.

Other ideas:

Evelyn
Hazel
Cecilia

Liam, Tommy, Finley and Reuben

I would avoid female versions of boy names. I know people who did this and got all sorts of remarks to the effect that they mustn't have noticed they had a girl.

This would rule out Frankie and Mylie.

Not keen on Harper.

I'd spell Myah 'Maya', but I'm not keen on it.

I wouldn't use unisex names either, for the same reason to avoid Frankie and Mylie.

I'd look.at more feminine names, OP. Nothing too frilly, but a name that is definitely a girl name.

If you like nicknamey names, how about:
Kitty
Nancy
Daisy
Stella
Sadie
Bella
Cleo
Nessa
Emmy
Pippa
Hollie
Laney
Tilda
Vita
Posie
Maisie
Lottie
Mae
Sally
Margot
Freya
Isla
Tilly
Mollie
Ellie
Tessa
Elsie
Sophie
Gracie
Layla
Nola
Mila ("Meela")
Orla
Romy
Bonnie

Frankie sounds like another of the boys!
I’m not a fan of Myah and Mylie either and Harper just reminds me of the Beckhams but it’s probably the nicest on your list.

wafflesmgee · 21/10/2024 18:53

Beth
Cara
Kiera

wafflesmgee · 21/10/2024 18:54

Frankie is quite masculine sounding to me
I personally dislike any mia/myah names as i don't see them as proper names, just badly spelt derivatives.

How about Francesca nn Frankie.

Love this!

VivaVivaa · 21/10/2024 19:44

Frankie and Harper are both good names. Wouldn’t be what I chose but I think they sound lovely on other people’s DC. I know a 5 yo Frankie and she is lush.

I really dislike Mylie. Both the sound and the spelling.

I don’t like the spelling of Myah at all. It’s a lovely name spelt Maya.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/10/2024 19:59

Myah is by far the prettiest.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/10/2024 21:06

I guess what your boys names have in common is that they are all Top 100 popular- nothing wrong with that, my DC’s name is too and at least this means most people will know how to say and spell the name (plus they can easily get tat with their names on 🤣).

For that reason I’d avoid Mylie and Myah (Maya is really lovely though). Harper and Frankie are fine, although not my taste - Harper because it’s a trendy celeb name, and Frankie as it’s much more popular with boys (so she might find it odd if there’s a male one in her class). There are lots of nice similar choices in the Top 100 - Mia, Mila, Maeve, Esme, Thea, Hallie, Erin might be your style?

This is exactly what I thought, like another pp said, it's as if you hadn't noticed it wasn't another boy!

TotalBlamBlam · 22/10/2024 18:15

On your list I like Harper.

Other suggestions: Sadie, Leah, Rebecca, Alexandra.

IesuGrist1975 · 22/10/2024 18:40

I had a girl after 4 boys and she was very nearly Francesca so that with the NN Frankie (although I prefer Fran) would be my choice. We also really liked Raffaella (nn Ella).
She got neither of those names, went with a Goddess name in the end as we wanted a strong name for her.

Are you in Ireland by any chance OP?

professionaloverthinker · 22/10/2024 18:47

@IesuGrist1975 Ahh was you the same as me and just completely convinced was having another boy? How old are yours now?

I'm not in Ireland. I'm London.

Mine range from 16 to 4 years old- we had 3 in 4 years and then slowed down for our 4th and 5th! I couldn’t believe we were having a girl when we found out, I thought we just didn’t make girls. What will your age range be?

I was asking about Ireland as my baby niece is Mya and I think it’s popular there at the moment (different spellings) although, saying that, my youngest and eldest both had Maya’s in their class so I think it’s a name that is steadily popular. We’re in London too.

professionaloverthinker · 22/10/2024 19:54

@IesuGrist1975 I was absolutely convinced I couldn't have girls was more then happy to have another boy though, I know what I'm doing with them 😂 I'm not a girly girl so will be interesting doing hair etc.

I have 3 boys with my previous partner, they are 17,13 and 6 and with my now husband we have a 8 month old and a girl on the way. Little age gap but was planned as wanted close together. I was only 17 when I had my first so still feel like I have enough energy (might not say that when she's here 😂)

It's so hard to choose a girls name after only having boys.

Polly, Louisa, Anna, Helena, Susannah, Maria, Jacqueline, Sylvie. I think these are slightly quirky, slightly traditional, and have a vibe that's very similar to your boys names.
