Is it too late to change daughters name?

My daughter is 19 months old. Is it too late to change her name. I thought it was due to postpartum depression but those feelings have not gone away. I cringe when others say it, people mispronounce jt, and I don’t like the nicknames. I feel so bad. Can I change he it or is it too late ?

You can change it, it's a wee bit more paperwork after they turn one, but you can do it.

Despite what people say, she'll soon be used to the new name. They'll say it's cruel as she knows her own name, but it's just a response to a word, it has no actual meaning to her yet.

Do you want say what her name is? What would you like it to be?

is her Dad involved? What does he think??

I can't answer your question, but I advice you to do a search here on Mumsnet, many threads on the topic of changing the name of a child.

Or someone in this thread will be able to answer you, soon.

Good luck!

I wish you and your daughter all the best!

Agree with the 1st poster, she will get use to it very quickly. It’s not ideal but it can be done.

we called our children all sorts of nicknames when they were that age she’ll be fine.

Do you know what you want to change it to?

Does she know it and answer to it, if you call her by it? That should be your chief consideration. Otherwise, no issues.

Yes, change it if it gives you that response.
perhaps you could start to call her with both names for a bit so she gets used to the new name?
