Have now gone off of Oscar as I fear there will be millions of them ( although it is a lovely name).
So what do we think of Vincent. It is my father in laws name. I am unsure but DH really likes it. Alternatives at this time are Albie, Max (this will also be everywhere i fear). Or nothing.

Vincent is a nice name. Don't like Max or Albie - sorry!

tiredlady · 21/04/2008 14:50

Albie is just fantastic.

swiftyknickers · 21/04/2008 14:51

albie is gorgeous,know a couple
vincent is lovely-vinnie! brilliant

BrassicMonkey · 21/04/2008 14:51

Like all 3. Prefer just Vince to Vincent though.

BrassicMonkey · 21/04/2008 14:51

Or Vinnie actually, that's even better.

belgo · 21/04/2008 14:51

Vincent is fine, prefer Victor.

rusmum · 21/04/2008 14:52

Sorry don't like Vincent at all.The other 2 are OK.

Muuuuuuuuum · 21/04/2008 15:00

my daughter was on a football course last week out of 20 children there we 2 oscar's and 3 max's.
but its always been the same - when i was at school all the boys were Dave, Andy, Mark (sometimes with a c!) and Paul.

but as i've said before - your baby, your choice

cyteen · 21/04/2008 15:06

I think Vincent is brilliant!

pinkyminky · 21/04/2008 15:10

No offence to you FIL, but it doesn't appeal to me at all. Albie I really like. Max is everywhere. Could ou give vincent as a middle name? I like having family names in there somewhere.

Heated · 21/04/2008 15:10

I've come to really like Vincent but just can't like Vinnie maybe just because the Vinnie Jones/LockStock association reinforced by my exBIL of the same name who looks like Ray Winstone! However, I did see a film with an urbane & lovely Frenchman called Vincent in it, which has altered my perception somewhat!

I love Albie/Albert btw.

Amapoleon · 21/04/2008 15:16

I am sorry but I don't like Vincent, it reminds me of slippery second hand car salesmen. It sounds so much better in any other language than English.

I like Albie and Max.

MandMand · 21/04/2008 15:18

I think Vincent is a wonderful name, I would have loved to use it for my DS. I've only ever met one real-life Vince (a very lovely ex-boyfriend!) I'm sure your FIL would be thrilled and flattered if you used it for his Grandson.

See, Vincent makes me think of cool rockabilly types, whereas Albie just brings to mind Alby Starvation.

girlfrommars · 21/04/2008 15:29

I like Vincent. Makes me think of Van Gogh.

Buckets · 21/04/2008 16:55

Hmmm Vincent Gallo (Hollywood actor and director)
and Vince Noir from The Mighty Boosh - seems like a nice bloke.

MrsMattie · 21/04/2008 16:56

I don't like Vincent at all, sorry! maybe because there were three at my school and they were all weirdos.

oiFoiF · 21/04/2008 16:56

lol

DrNortherner · 21/04/2008 16:58

My friend has a ds called Vincent. At first I wasn't keen, but now it really suits him.

He gets called Vin Von.

BiancaCastafiore · 21/04/2008 16:59

We know a little Vincent (Vinnie) and he's lovely I did a bit when he was first born but think it's a great name now.

pointydog · 21/04/2008 17:11

I like Vincent A Lot

evenhope · 21/04/2008 17:37

I love the name Vincent. Not so keen on Vinnie (but then I don't like names being shortened)

MadameCh0let · 21/04/2008 19:43

Vincent + Oscar = Victor which I really love.

I like Vinnie but not Vincent though. Victor is so cool it hurts my eyes to type the name.
