I love Rose! My grandma was Rosina which I also love

So was mine and I’d never heard it before!

OneLoyalGreyFish · 13/09/2024 01:11

My eldest grandchild is called Rose, she’s 9, and was born just 3 months after my mum passed away. My daughter and son-in-law chose to not find out the gender during the pregnancy. Rose was my mum’s middle name and I had also chosen Rose as a middle name for said daughter. My other daughter’s first child also has Rose as a middle name. Both of my granddaughters are named after 3 of their great grandmothers. Very traditional names.

Rose is very pretty but I think Rosa just has something about it. It's a bit spunkier. I prefer it personally.

Tallulah and Betty are everywhere yuck!

Except they're not, and they're not even my kids' names.

BogusHocusPocus · 13/09/2024 14:56

Rose, every time.

PadstowGirl · 18/09/2024 21:20

Rose is such a gorgeous name.

Blondiney · 18/09/2024 21:23

Rosalita. Rosa for short 😊

GreenTeaLikesMe · 20/09/2024 03:11

Love both, but pick the one you like best, not the one that "flows best" with Victoria. Middle names are hardly ever used in real life; as long as a combo doesn't sound actively "awkward" it's fine - and both Rose and Rosa are basically fine with Victoria.

Data says Rose is a lot commoner than Rosa (but I don't think either is overused).

Lucia is a good name too, but only with the Spanish Loo-SEE-a pronunciation. I don't like Loosha (make me thing of loo brushes) or Loo-CHEE-a (makes me think of cheese).

rach136 · 20/09/2024 03:15

I adore Rosa

pilates · 20/09/2024 05:59

Rose

Mama0ftw0 · 20/09/2024 19:13

Well thank you everyone for all of the feedback I really appreciate it.

I went with Rose in the end.
I did think people would just shorten Rosa anyway.

The registrar said she sees Rose a lot for middle but not very much for first so that was something.

thank you all.
