I dislike Franklin, could maybe be swayed towards Francis for the BC however I much prefer the simplicity of Frank but is it too trendy at the moment?
DP thinks so

It’s very trendy. Three in my 3yo’s nursery class. I love it though!

I wouldn't know trendy if it bit me on the bum but I do know a young Frank and think it's a pretty cool name.

We have a 3 year old Francis (sentimental reasons, I’d have been happy with Frank), he’s Frank day to day. I thought it would be a lot more popular than it is in our area, not come across another one at any classes/activities or pre school

Firsttimebabymummy · 27/08/2024 19:58

I only know of one

Psychoticbreak · 27/08/2024 20:14

My 87 year old dad be delighted to think it was!

Moreteaandchocolate · 27/08/2024 20:50

I only know one young Frank - great name!

sel2223 · 27/08/2024 21:19

Trendy? I don't know a single one under the age of 70!
As it happens,I like it!

It
But I'd give Francis
As a given name

Sorry for formatting!

Well there are a lot of them..

User6761 · 28/08/2024 09:33

I only know one - aged 16. Haven't come across any at nursery, toddler groups etc in recent years (I'm in South West). I think Francis is the best full name, really dislike Franklin.

Depends what you mean by 'trendy'? Old man chic is definitely a big current trend. But I wouldn't describe Frank, as an individual name, as 'trendy'.

Trendy to me seems more modern. If you asked me what boys names are currently 'trendy', I would say things like Roman, Rowan, Arlo, Hunter, Hudson, Oakley, Otis, Otto, Jude, Jaxon etc. I'm not sure Frank fits the 'latest cool trend' description, despite growing in popularity due to fitting in to a current trend of using 'old man names' on babies.

Franklin or Frankie would actually seem more 'trendy' than just Frank. I'd lump Frank more with names like Arthur, Albert, Stanley, Alfred, Wilfred, Frederick, in that all are currently on the rise due to fitting an in trend, but are too traditional to feel trendy individually.

I'm probably not making any sense but I know what I mean lol.

I know what you mean and I agree

It is quite trendy, and personally I prefer Frankie (Frank makes me think of Frank Butcher!).
I would go for Francis on birth certificate though so he has options when he's older
