Names for my twin boys!!!

Olivia2109 · 17/08/2024 11:41

my twin boys are due late September and we still haven’t decided on names! We keep choosing and then going back to the drawing board…. Trying to also think of names which go with our surname (Grey). For middle names we want one to have Timothy and one to have Glen.
Here’s our list:

Ellis
Elliot
Oakley
Jude
Morgan
Louis
Thomas
Sutton
Callum
Also love Sonny but actually prefer it spelt “Sunny”, but I feel he may get made fun of for it sounding “girly”?

If anyone has any other suggestions would love to hear! As a general rule, we love names with UK origin. I’m also Irish. Names that have some traditional element but also wouldn’t have many at school with the same name?

thank you 🤗

Maybe controversially, I think Sunny sounds quite nice actually. Sonny is good too. Elliot and Ellis are probably my favs!

I love

Jude Timothy
Elliot Glen

or

Elliot Glen
Louis Timothy
— Elliot and Louis goes together beautifully without being ‘samey’

Twin boys .. I love all these combos:
Thomas Glen Grey
Callum Timothy Grey
or
Oakley Glen Grey
Elliot Timothy Grey
or
Elliot Glen Grey
Callum Timothy Grey
or
Thomas Glen Grey
Oakley Tim Greoy
or
Timothy Glen Grey
Oakley Thomas Grey

I don’t think you can have Oakley Grey either, it sounds like a Farrow and Ball shade - a subtle blend of oak and grey - Grey is a nice surname but have to keep in mind it’s also a colour..

Moreteaandchocolate · 17/08/2024 17:56

I love
Thomas Glen and Louis Timothy
Elliott Glen and Louis Timothy
Ellis Timothy and Louis Glen
Callum Timothy and Ellis Glen
Thomas Glen and Callum Timothy (Tom and Cal)

More ideas
Harrison Glen (“Sonny”) and Elliot Timothy
Harrison Glen and Callum Timothy (Sonny and Cal)
Harrison Timothy and Oakley Glen (Sonny and Oakley)
Jackson Timothy and Oakley Glen (Sonny and Oakley)
Ellis Timothy and Jackson Glen (Ellis and Sonny)

Callum

All names I had for ds and he is one of those!

Elliot Timothy
Thomas Glen

Are my favourites.

itsgettingweird · 17/08/2024 18:01

Oh I missed Louis was on the list.

I love that too!

Thomas and Elliot

Or

But I agree

Thomas and Oakley go really well together too.

I love the name Thomas

I would pick
Thomas Glen and Louis Timothy from your list .
Thomas and Louis go nicely together

Yes Thomas and Louis are my favourites by a long way and I agree they go really well together. The problem then is Timothy as a middle name as I don’t think Thomas Timothy works and I wonder if Louis Timothy is too rhyme-y with the “ee” sound at the end of both.
One thing I would caution is that with Glen meaning valley, you want to avoid the risk of the name sounding like a place name on a map if it’s coming after the first name as a middle name. I think both Sutton Glen and Oakley Glen sound like this. Oakley Glen sounds like a valley of oak trees!

Sleepnplay · 19/08/2024 17:17

Elliot and Jude are my favourites.

Elliot Glen Grey (initials spell EGG, but don't think that matters)

Jude Timothy Grey

orangetree1999 · 19/08/2024 17:27

Jude Timothy and Louis Glen

Newbornhaze · 19/08/2024 21:37

Love Ellis and Jude or Ellis and Callum

(not that you need more options as you have a great list but I know brothers named Ellis and Calvin and thought they go really well!)

Olivia2109 · 17/08/2024 12:06

Thank you! Yes probably wouldn’t use it, for some reason I just really liked the sound when I heard it 😂Also Ellis and Elliot are my top two but I think too similar to have both

Please do not give twin boys first names starting with the same Initial. The consequences for mistakes in medical records throughout their lives is too important. I know some people consider it 'cute', but with same date of birth they deserve something to help prevent any mix ups.

NeonFlamingos · 19/08/2024 21:47

Luke Timothy & Callum Glen

villamariavintrapp · 19/08/2024 22:00

I think Ellis Grey is Meredith's mum in Grey's anatomy, so I probably wouldn't use that for a boy.

ChocoChocoLatte · 19/08/2024 22:11

Jude and Saul (instead of Sonny)

spaceshooter · 19/08/2024 22:47

Ellis/Elliott Glen
Jude Timothy

Very nice.

MiddleAgedDread · 20/08/2024 13:16

Elliot Glen Grey & Morgan Timothy Grey
or
Callum Timothy Grey & Thomas Glen Grey

pambeesleyhalpert · 20/08/2024 14:47

I really like Ellis, also know a couple of sibling sets called Harrison and Ellis which I think are great together. You could get Sonny from Harrison!

sel2223 · 20/08/2024 14:53

So I voted for Ellis/Elliott Glen as one of the names but then saw another poster point out the initials would spell EGG with your surname! Please don't do that.

So I'm changing to Ellis Timothy

Other name with middle name Glen would be better as a 2 or 3 syllable name (not Thomas though as Ellis and Thomas is a bit rhymy)

Firebird83 · 21/08/2024 14:36

Jude Timothy and Thomas Glen

Daisybuttercup12345 · 05/09/2024 21:31

Lincoln Glen Grey
Ambrose Timothy Grey
Or
Cameron Timothy Grey
Aaron Glen Grey
Or
Hudson Glen Grey
Oliver Timothy Grey
Or
Thomas Glen Grey
Harrison Timothy Grey.

BuenosAiresTango · 07/09/2024 23:04

How about Thomas and Matthew?

Handmaid2019 · 07/09/2024 23:15

My twin boys are Liam and James x
