Boys Names Starting with The Same Letter as Surname?

Hi all!
I've just found out Im going to be having a boy this time! I love names that start with C but our surname begins with C too. DH thinks its "overkill" to have two C's - what do you think? I love Callum, Christopher and Kevin (ok not a C but near enough!!!!!!).

OP posts:

No! Kevin is awful (imho)!!!!

Also think Dylan Douglas, Rocco Ritchie (and there is another one but cannot remember it!)

Dont like it myself.

maidamess · 12/04/2008 19:20

My real name has the same sound at the start! I like it...makes you sound interesting.

stillstanding · 12/04/2008 19:21

I think this is fine - can sound quite strong (in a good way) imo. But perhaps throw in a middle name with a different letter too!

artichokes · 12/04/2008 19:24

I quite like illiteration in names. However, I seem to be in a minority. I like the name Rosa if this baby is a girl, but our last name starts with R so DH says NO WAY .

bluenosesaint · 12/04/2008 19:29

Actually i quite like it - its got a 'film star' quality to it

There a few exceptions however, for example two W's, say like Wendy Wood >>disclaimer, i am not dissing the name Wendy Wood!

itisme · 12/04/2008 21:48

i like finley for a boy but our surname is F and dh says fat finley f - fat chance!!

Rose99 · 13/04/2008 13:02

I don't like it and it meant that I had to leave out quite a few nice names with my last dc.

Clary · 14/04/2008 00:06

I'm not keen.

Have to say Kevin is not a great name for a baby these days - most Kevins are about 40-45 now. Bit like Tracey, Trevor and Sharon (sorry)

LaPaz · 15/04/2008 12:33

Christopher is good and so is Callum, tho perhaps better if you are Scottish imo. Christian is nice too. Or Cillian or Cyrus if you fancied something a bit different

Alliteration worked out fine for Christopher Columbus

floaty · 15/04/2008 12:36

Cameron or connor are nice, what about a name witha hard "c" in the middle like Marcus

Tigerschick · 15/04/2008 12:41

I think it really depends on the rest of the name. It is not something I would rule out regardless.
My position on names is that, if you find a name you and your DH like then go for it.

Fimbo · 15/04/2008 12:45

I have a C surname, my nephew is Calum. The two together do not flow in my opinion.

I wanted Campbell for a boy but it most definately sounded awful with my surname.

I do know a Christopher Cooper though, which is ok, although he is always known as CeeCee.

AHLH · 15/04/2008 13:07

Nothing wrong with alliterative names. Seem to do Norma Jean the world of good when she became Marilyn Munroe!

nailpolish · 15/04/2008 13:14

my dd1's first and last names start with the same letter

i think its FAB and COOL

they both have the same number of syllables (3) if that makes a difference, although i should nt think it does

MadameCh0let · 15/04/2008 16:54

Has anybody mentioned Moses Martin!? (Gwynnie's boy)

She's pg again, Blimely on tenterhooks to see what she calls the next one!

MadameCh0let · 15/04/2008 16:56

PS op, love Kit short for Christopher. I'm not ready for Kevin again yet though. Kevins all have beer bellies.

hana · 15/04/2008 17:09

nah, don't worry about first and last names starting with same letter. dd1 has this.

MamaG · 15/04/2008 17:11

I like it actually

TheFallenMadonna · 15/04/2008 17:14

I don't mind it at all. Christopher would be my choice from your list.

geordieminx · 15/04/2008 17:18

I have CC - Charlie Cxxxx - Sounds fab IMO

Squirdle · 15/04/2008 17:40

I have a CC too - Caleb CXXX and DH is a CC too. Wasn't intentional, we just loved the name Caleb and it flows very well with our surname.

ButterflyMcQueen · 15/04/2008 17:45

is Gwyneth pregnant? madame cholet?

MadameCh0let · 15/04/2008 18:50

Wow. That's weird, I must have dreamt it!!

LittleMissBliss · 15/04/2008 18:54

Dp J,J and ds is also J,J The two 'J' names flow well with the surname!

StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2008 18:59
