The name Orla

Orla or Orlaith?

I love both so I'm unsure

Orlaith is a gorgeous spelling but for practicality reasons Orla is probably better and saves her name being butchered by teachers etc. Also I’d say Orla is easier when learning phonics etc

FootstepsInSand · 13/07/2024 19:25

Orla is straightforward. How is Orlaith pronounced?

Fontainebleau007 · 13/07/2024 19:40

My children have a few Orlaith's in their school. I like that spelling, though could understand for easiness if you decide to go with Orla.

Twiglets1 · 13/07/2024 19:41

Orla

Cryingout1994 · 13/07/2024 20:25

It's pronounced the same both spellings I believe

Orla!

Easy to pronounce and spell without having to explain.

HironsBirons · 13/07/2024 20:31

Orlaith

Dragonsandcats · 13/07/2024 20:32

I’d go for orla as it’s easier. I do think it means vomit in irish though if that puts you off.

NoDishiRishi · 13/07/2024 20:34

Órlaith

LizzeyBenett · 13/07/2024 20:34

One is Irish and one isn't , so what's your preference?

Moreteaandchocolate · 13/07/2024 20:44

It depends where you live! Near me I’d use Orla for an easy life!

Cryingout1994 · 13/07/2024 20:52

Haha luckily we aren't Irish, midlands of the U.K I'm sticking to the meaning of golden princess 😄

If you are not Irish then Orla

Julyshouldbesunny · 13/07/2024 21:11

An anagram of oral? No thanks.
