Gabriella or Cordelia?

Which name do you think sounds better?

Cordelia, but Cecily is even better!

Gabriella is quite nice. I'm not mad on Cordelia. It makes it sound like they'd be a real hyacinth bucket, high maintenance kind of person?!

Have always liked Gabriella. Cordelia was really snotty to Buffy the Vampire slayer.

Both Gabriella and Cordelia are lovely sounding names when you say them.
However I'm afraid I always think of the nicknames that the child and sometimes the adult will get: Cordy or Gaby.

Cordelia is the name I would use if I ever have a girl so obviously that would be my pick.

not keen on Gabriella, it just reminds me of high school musical that I was obsessed with as a tween. That’s probably a bit niche though

I absolutely love Cordelia - it was my gorgeous cat's name. Less keen on Gabriella.

I like both, but most Gabriellas I've known have had Italian/Latin heritage.

Cordelia makes me think of Anne of Green Gables, I've never met a real person with the name.

Gabriella is ok, it's pretty much guaranteed to be shortened to Gabby.

Cordelia is lovely. Gabriella isn't.

I really dislike Gabby. Cordy is awful too, but I have not encountered that. The only Cordelia I know goes by Dell.

Yeah, I think you need to decide if you like Gabby or Cordy.
because whether you like it or not, both names are ripe for shortening.

Not fussed about either but like Corrie.

Gabriella is OK. Cordellia sounds like something out of a kids halloween movie and also hard to spell.

Gabi is OK as a nickname but can result in a bit of teasing if they're a chatty person.

And im a person who likes most names!

I'd consider other suggestions people have made here.

I like them both, but prefer Gabriella.

If we're allowed to throw other suggestions into the mix, what about Ava or Sophia?

Of the two, Francesca but both are a bit too frilly. Charlotte is nice.
