I think it's awful and reminds me of Otto von Bismarck

It's also a well known retailer www.otto.de

TheSixQuarks · 01/07/2024 21:44

I like it but it's too trendy.

mum2jakie · 01/07/2024 21:45

Nah reminds me too much of otter

MiddleagedBeachbum · 01/07/2024 21:46

I like it

menopausalmare · 01/07/2024 21:46

I know a dog and a cat called Otto.

CatWontBudge · 01/07/2024 21:47

I know one of about 14. I like it, cute on a toddler, quite powerful on a man.

Moreteaandchocolate · 01/07/2024 22:32

A good name :)

StormingNorman · 01/07/2024 22:34

Love it too. German names in general are massively underrated.

TartenRedRug · 01/07/2024 22:35

Just dont call out his name in a park in South London or 100 dogs will come running up.

Dreamycoconut · 01/07/2024 22:37

Is it Danish or Swedish or something? I don’t like it, not a nice sound and seems sort of …slimy? Maybe as I had a fish called Otto as a child.

NewYearNewJob2024 · 01/07/2024 22:39

Love it!

JMSA · 01/07/2024 22:40

It's very Germanic. I'm not mad on it personally, but there's far worse out there!

SallyWD · 01/07/2024 22:45

I don't hate it but it's a little trendy now.

Ivyrosecrayon · 01/07/2024 22:46

I LOVE it!! Was top of our list for a boy this time but we ended up having a girl.

BobbyBiscuits · 01/07/2024 22:52

It sounds quite affected as a British name. Unless you're scandi or German or something it's a bit try hard and twee sounding. Reminds me of late noughties yummy mummies who's parents bought them a flat in Dalston.

It is why it is dachshunds and Schanusers mainly called Otto

Moier · 01/07/2024 22:56

Absolutely love it.
( l do find people asking opinions on baby names are asking to be upset .. if loads don't say they like it... your baby ...your decision).
But to me that is a lovely name.

saisagelover · 01/07/2024 22:59

Love it

Bathbombin · 01/07/2024 23:00

Fantastic!

IllMetByMoonlight · 01/07/2024 23:01

Love it. Rose Otto. Also palindromic, which is neat.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/07/2024 23:09

Not for me, sorry. As palindrome names go, Asa is far nicer. Or Ivo if you just want a less commonplace “O” ending name than all the Theo’s, Leo’s etc.

Otto is a comedy Germanic/Austrian stereotype of name imo - like Bruce for Aussies, Chad for Americans or Nigel for the English etc. I feel like I’d be in a cartoon or sketch show with a little Otto.

PassMeTheCookies · 01/07/2024 23:10

I do love the name, but I live in Manchester where nobody pronounces the letter T. I know a kid called Otto who gets addressed as "uh-oh", like the noise you make when you make a mistake.

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 01/07/2024 23:10

Hightower?

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 01/07/2024 23:11

My dm was going to name my db Otto 50 years ago. I think it’s a cool name.
