hello,
looking for boys names and have a strong yorkshire accent to contend with, I also really dislike pretty much all boys names, finding on the baby lists they are either nice but way too common for my liking or really out there!
quite like robin (but hate rob as a nickname) austin and dexter
please help me! also no comments on the names I do like please 😂 the list is small enough

thanks to all the northerners for helping explain how the accent can make some names veeery long (Arlo is a great name, but not out of my mouth!) I actually like my accent but some names just dont work as well!

some really great names on here that we didnt have on our list 😊

How about a name starting with Eee? 😁
so, no names starting and ending with a vowel.
That narrows it down a bit.

Eeebygum?

At least it’d get pronounced properly by the natives.

I don’t see how your accent ruins boys names? How about Arlo, it’s popular now and suits any age, also a real name going back over 1,000 years in Britain.

I always think of this name as the town in Essex but without the H (Harlow) and for that reason could never choose it!

Felix

I feel for you! I avoided any names with a long A like Mark and anything beginning with H and anything with an open U as in Hunter. That tends to remove most of the worst Yorkshireisms!

I think Austin is a good one, trying to think what it might be shortened to - Ozzie perhaps? But probably fairly easy to avoid if you don't like that.

I know an Austin who is known as Tintin.

Oddly enough I don't think any of those particular three names would sound different in a Yorkshire accent. I like Robin best of the three, I think.

yeah I think the three we have picked are okay! I just want a couple more back ups incase they come out and I decide I hate all the names!!
we liked Leo and Jake too but the yorkshire accent absolutely butchers them for me (leoooooooo, jaaaaaake 😂)
