It's a lovely name but yes it sadly will be used for jokes, not horrible ones, but will be annoying I imagine. X

I'd hesitate. As soon as he hits secondary school, someone's going to comment.

therealcookiemonster · 18/05/2024 19:19

just no

he will get teased ruthlessly

also it's cheesy

Wow.

I don't dislike it but much too similar to Rio. Roman is great and fits your vibe. I've also come across Blue, Oakley, Sonny, Teddy, Otis (I work with kids!) which I think are similar.

I think every single person will say, 'Oh yeah. Like the Beckhams?'

Also, it's pretty hard on the child if he grows up to be a shy, short bookworm type. You need a certain amount of swagger to carry off 'Romeo' when introducing yourself to girls in your teens.

I agree with this though and I do think names like this are quite unfair on kids.

He will likely get teased at least a bit. I think there's other names that go with your other children that aren't as divisive.

No no no. Please don’t.
plus as others said too similar to Rio.

honestly cringe

I wouldnt, purely for the reason that Juliet is a fairly popular name and if by chance there was ever a Juliet in his class it would be sticky toffee for bullies.

But if you want a Romeo name then look at the play, lots of names there, I think Paris would fit your “vibe” , but there is also

Abram,Balthasar,Escalus,Montague,Capulet,Benvolio,Tybalt, Mercutio.

And your comment is classy is it?

Given the OP asked for honest opinions, yes.

There were far less polite adjectives I could have used to make the same point. For me, it's in the same category as Jayden, Jax, Kai etc. Btw I'm sure plenty of people would judge my kids' names for being very boring middle class fodder and that's also fair enough as an opinion.

Soul isn't a name, did you mean Sol? I think Romeo is always going to get the Beckham or lover boy references, if you have any Italian heritage then you can probably pull it off, if not I've give it a miss. Roman is much better if you don't have any Italian heritage IMO.

I think she knows her own kid's name. No reason why Soul can't be a name.
