My DP likes this for our baby DD but I'm not keen.

not a fan - sorry! Reminds me of a “chavvy” (hate to use that word) girl from school who always caused problems.

FuckKnowsMate · 17/05/2024 16:52

Stripper

TheCultureHusks · 17/05/2024 16:52

No. Not at all.

Moier · 17/05/2024 16:52

A dog.
Know three called Lexi

Tryingtogetitright · 17/05/2024 16:53

Short for Alexandra!
I love the name Lexi

CyclesPerfecta · 17/05/2024 16:53

My daughter”s friend, she’s lovely (they are both 12).

how about Alexia?

So do I. I know someone called Lexi, short for Alexandra. It's suits her.

Cheerfulcharlie · 17/05/2024 16:54

I think of Alan Partridge saying it as plural for 'Lexuses'.

Moreteaandchocolate · 17/05/2024 16:56

I love it as short for Alexandra, so you’ve got a more formal, classy option if you need it as an adult.

nicd213 · 17/05/2024 16:56

I was thinking chavvy too. I'm a social worker and it's a name that comes up all the time. Like, All The Time! Never had a Sarah, Elizabeth, Laura on my caseload but have at least 2 or 3 Lexis each month!

Archetypal chav name. Avoid.

TemuSpecialBuy · 17/05/2024 16:57

It’s a nice nickname / diminutive for Alexandra (which is a lovely name)

…as an ACTUAL name for life it’s a mistake.

TheHorneSection · 17/05/2024 16:58

Stripper. And I say that as a parent who has a child whose name could be shortened to that. It’s not.

Perzival · 17/05/2024 16:58

Sexy Lexi - I knew a girl who would get called that but in cruel sarcastic way. "Sexy Lexi like a lump of lard, Sexy Lexi you make my Willy go hard". It's stuck in my head for three decades.

ShillyShallySherbet · 17/05/2024 16:59

I think it’s lovely, as a nickname, but I wouldn’t give it as a full name.

cultjarteriaky · 17/05/2024 16:59

When I was a TA in a primary, there was a Lexi in the class - tomboy, spunky, easy going but head strong - I saw her yesterday in her secondary school uniform and she looked so cute and still with a street smart look about her

I’d go for Alexandra though so she can choose Alex or Lexi or even both

SneezedToothOut · 17/05/2024 17:00

It’s the name of my neighbour’s dog, who is forever escaping and therefore her name is regularly shouted around the place!

Well you used it, why didn't you say you didn't like it ?

I used to work with male substance users and offenders.

Nearly all of them had a child with a woman who wouldn't let them see the child for a reason that was 'obviously' not their fault... and 9/10 if a girl the child was called Lexi. Or Lexi-May etc

I can't move past that.

Mrsjayy · 17/05/2024 17:08

I think its nice although I prefer Alexadra then you can shorten it to Lexie.

ThePoshUns · 17/05/2024 17:09

Stripper / drag queen

thesugarbumfairy · 17/05/2024 17:10

I know a Lexie. Its not short for anything. They called her that. I really like it.

ZiggyZowie · 17/05/2024 17:10

A car

Ponderingwindow · 17/05/2024 17:10

That she will spend her life having people accidentally trigger Amazon devices around her.

Well you used it, why didn't you say you didn't like it ?

Because the OP specifically asked what does it make you think of, not if I liked it or not….quite frankly I am sure the OP doesn’t care if a random stranger likes the name or not, they wanted to know what associations people have with it.

I also couldn’t think of another word to describe her, hence why I used it.
